Jerry, do you know any place I can get the ac discharged at a decent price? Every place I’m talking to wants to charge per hook up.

Yeah evacuate so I can see what the oil looks like and then decide what to replace. Was going to do compressor, drier and condenser if the compressor didn’t implode, will do the evap and the expansion thing if it did. Might end up doing it all anyway, but need to evac first.

Still need manifold gauges? My brother replaced his compressor and just charged mine the other day.

Yea he also has a small vacuum pump. He didnt exactly contain the old stuff though... but yea he evacuated it, added oil, held the vacuum, charged it, but unfortunately he's still got a leak he's been chasing. We've also got a UV light, if that'd help finding the leak, not sure if we still have the dye though but I think most oil has dye added anyway.
Mine was just charged with the a/c on, I didnt do the full flush and refill.

Word, I'll probably get it professionally evac'd so I don't release refrigerant, but I will likely hit you guys up when it comes time to recharge? Gotta figure out hoe much of the system I will be replacing first, if not all of it.

About 2 years ago in the middle of the winter I heard a loud screech and my belt was burning off. Not sure if compressor or clutch seized. I cut the belt off and forgot about it/didn't want to deal with it. Now that I take the pup with me, I want AC again because she was hot as fuck on our VA trip.

My brother just got a junkyard compressor for like $20, can't really go wrong there as long as it has reasonably low miles. If you do get a junkyard compressor though make sure you get new seals for the high and low lines.

Ha well I got the evac, compressor is confirmed seized so likely detonated. That means there is shrapnel in the entire system potentially. I'm not fucking around, replacing every item, every o-ring and starting fresh. It's a 17 year old system that hasn't been active for 2 years. I don't want to touch it ever again when I'm done.

Lol likely the most carnage I have ever seen at Rausch. Def good to carry two, so if you need one your tip doesn't end.

Started the AC rebuild, snapped a condenser mounting bolt and a bolt that mounts the line to the left side of the condenser shown in this pic (AC discharge line IIRC) so I ordered a new line since that bolt is holding that line to the old condenser.

I also found NO OIL inside the compressor. Look at the date on the evap housing haha. Everything is out, will get rebuilt, resealed and re oiled on Wednesday.

Hey Mike how are your Skid Row skids holding up? I've been seeing those and budbuilt as the top two to buy.

Honestly, the IFS skid has taken a beating and still holds up pretty well. I have needed to take a sledge hammer to it a few times but it always comes back into decent shape. The t-case skid needs reinforcement from the jump to save yourself headache. The ones that make you install a crossmember behind are much better. IIRC relentless makes a full setup and can get it in 1/4" I think, that would be the route I'd go if I went from the beginning. 1/4" is a ton of weight but for the abuse I put on it, it's kinda needed. For now I am going to try to keep these and re-inforce them as needed till I eventually need to go with something else.

IIRC they made it but it's not on their site or I can't find it at least. I do remember it was a thing, or that they had made some beefy skids at some point.
