Insuring a 20 year old pickup truck in California when you’re under 21 just not economically feasible.

It depends on which part you're in but for @BartMaster1234 he's in probably the most expensive part of the state (Bay area) and he's under 21...so he's going to get reamed on the cost of full coverage.

I’m under 21 so every insurance is ridiculous.

Makes me really appreciate what my parents must have had to fork out when my brother, sister and I were all of driving age and still living at home in LA, lol. Goddamn.

I'm not doing to bad then. I pay $144 a month for 2 vehicles. Comprehensive on both $250 deductible.
My 2012 DCSB TRD Sport and my wife's 2018 Mercedes AMG GLC63. I don't know the split but her car probably eats up $90-$100 of the $144.
Making the insurance on my truck $45-$55 / month.

CO is pricey. Liability on my 96 4runner is around $70. For comprehensive and collision on my 2004 ctsv and 2012 tacoma with $2k deductable is around $200 for the two.

Wait holds on this thread is about brush guards and whether or not they're damage multipliers ....

I say that they are in the sense that some people seem to think that they are actual bumpers, in which case you are going to be sorely disappointed when and if you hit a deer or another vehicle. It will fold up and likely cause more damage to your front end.

But as far a being an actual brush guard goes, they're great and they do that job well...that's all they're really advertised to be.

I actually have three cars myself and I can only afford to insure just one with only liability coverage, just because the cost of insurance as someone under 21 in the most expensive region in the country (San Francisco Bay Area) is just not financially feasible.

That being said many people here make good points. They are what it is, a brush guard. It’ll do more damage than it’s worth in a front end collision.

Insuring anything, opening credit cards w/o a cosigner, starting utility service is a pain for young bucks. BUT you build your own credit that way.

I'm now able to open any service w/o paying a deposit, credit score is up and up. Beer.

Same, actually. I built my credit way before I needed utility accts. Stellar credit makes utilities easy. Now if only my damn insurance was cheaper.

Oh and yes brush guards and just flimsy ornaments that cause more damage in cases where damage would be minor.

I have a clean record, but I've got three vehicles and I'm under 25. Pickups and sports cars cost more than say economy sedans, and ice got a sports car, pickup, and sub :/

That's why I have a high HP sedan. Insurance is the same as the wife's Tacoma but have corvette power under the hood.

I've got mad respect for anyone that endures the punishment of a DSM long enough to make power with one! I've worked on a few 4Gs with friends, some of my first hands on engine stuff was with one. Props!

I've always wanted a 2 seat sports car though, at least it is a 1987 model 300zx so the insurance isn't as bad as a modern one.

Haha. No more DSM. My brother has it now. They are really easy to make power. Stock block can handle 500whp. Can't kill them with a hand grenade as one dyno owner told me. Now keeping them running and drivetrain together is the battle.

    Now I have this!!

I'll bring it back to the brush guard argument, just save up a couple more bill's and you now have a legit bumper.

In the couple instances I've used it, it has payed for itself atleast twice
