We all know Redline and Aamsoil are prob. the best oils out there but not many of us want to pay for them.

SuperTech synthetic oil (made by Warren) is Dexos Gen2 approved. I'm running it in my wife's '18 RAV4 without hesitation. GM's Dexos oil requirements are some of the most stringent out there. If they say it's good....it will be more than fine for me.

All oils sold in the U.S. have to meet the 2011 GF5 standard. Use whatever oil you want in the correct viscosity and you will be fine.

Yeah. I'm out. I try not to get sucked into these things. My last post.

Oil is such a personal thing. People have really strong convictions about it. Sometimes you're better off calling someone's mother a whore than to bash whatever oil/filter/OCI they use/do.

Step 1: Open owners manual and read what the recommended type and viscosity oil is.

Step 2: Look up the capacity in that same manual.

Step 3: Go buy that oil (brand of your choosing) and a decent filter.

Step 4: Change the oil and filter without draining your transmission fluid FFS. Take the used oil to a proper disposal center (don't pour it down the sewer drain or in a hole in your backyard).

Step 5: Clean up and stay the fuck off TW oil threads and stop second guessing everything because of something stupid someone on a TW oil thread said...including me.

Step 6: Go enjoy life....and your truck

To paraphrase Michael Corleone: Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in! I have read countless threads about tires too but if someone posts a new one tomorrow, count me in.

i've done enough oil changes on customers cars to know that there is a big difference between cheap oil and good oil. on top of working at the shop, we know other mechanics who work everywhere from dealers to fast lube shops and they tell me the same thing. the cheap oil is garbage, unless you're putting it in a very old car that, or something you dont care about. you notice the difference the most if you live in a cold climate. in the winter, the oil delivery truck comes every week, i stack it as soon as it comes off the truck, when im stacking the oils on the shelf, you can clearly tell the difference between conventional oil and synthetic. the oil in the conventional bottle becomes thick and i have to really shake the bottle for it to move . but the oil in the synthetic bottle is still maintains its viscosity. now imagine how long its going to take that oil to circulate through the engine when its -2F outside, keeping in mind most of the engine wear happens during the first start ups.

[QUOTE="008tacoma, post: 18803625, member: 200738" you can clearly tell the difference between conventional oil and synthetic. [/QUOTE]

I always ran conventional Castrol GTX in my T-100. At about 221,000 miles, I changed the valve cover gaskets. That engine was spotless inside, had no scoring on the cams of any sort and no sludge at all.
Use a decent oil and keep it changed. Is synthetic better? On paper, yes, and I use it now but if I put it in my Corolla with over 300,000 miles on it, synthetic leaks out faster. I know this for a fact.

There, new twist on the old thread!!!!

    Everything TW members recommend
Walmart special: Supertech 5w-30 synthetic is my go to oil. No issues here.

Everything I used in the pic for my spring fluid change were all the least expensive shit I could find. Using coupons, rebates, sales or all three. Lol.
