won't shift in 's' mode, goes to rev limiter

Yeah, Im afraid we're on the same page (very sad face) First time I've ever been unhappy with a toyota and this is my 6th one

My problem is kinda the opposite. I shift it and it DONT shift

Three Questions:
1) What does your truck do if you floor it in S mode while in 2nd? Does it shift up to third if you keep it floored and leave it in 2nd?
2) What about manual shifting. Same scenario, floored in 2nd, but you shift up to third at 5500 rpm? Keep it floored, Does it shift ?
3) in Drive, what rpm does it shift at if you floor it and keep it floored 2-3 or 3-4? Mine shifts about 6000.

The dealer told me there is a software 'reprogram' I need to have done, but for another transmission issue (an rpm flash at 2500 or so, shifting when it's cold...I think)

Went to the dealership, drove another one, same thing, maybe worse. Dealer called the 'factory' they said "right now that's the way it is'... won't shift manually in S mode over 5000, but in Drive it will shift at 6000. I don't know what 'right now' means.
Put this on the list of why I do not like this transmission.
On the brighter side I'm showing 22mpg @ 80 mph on a 80 mile trip with the cruise on almost all the way, in flat Florida, on a 68-degree morning with no wind.. in an aero 2WD access cab V6. I can live with that!

 

Mine does the same thing. And sometimes from 1st to 2nd in drive not S mode it doesn’t shift and falls flat dead. Picks back up at 4000rpm and in second gear.
