I can check tomorrow when I rip it back out. Radio is grounded to the factory radio ground, think I should extend it and run it to a bolt ground as well?

Or whatever craptastic wheels people put on their trucks that are totally unnecessary.

I for one think most no-name aftermarket wheels people throw on trucks are absolutely hideous. SCS, Method, and other name-brand wheels are pretty nice depending on the application.

I'm happy with my 3rd Gen wheels. They look fugly on 3rd Gens, but pretty nice on 1st Gens.

Of course that's my opinion, and like most of my opinions based on these trucks, people will disagree about it.

Yeah, I'll give you that. They do look cheap.

It's a fun looking car though.

As long as you are sure the connection is solid it doesn't matter. Some people only ground to body panels that's why I asked. Have you tapped on the radio, could be a bad solder joint on the connector or output transistor.

Honestly, there really aren't to many line options on this trail. It's barely wide enough for a Taco and puts you +20° as your only option. Driver skill is another story.

I wouldn't spend the money on one of those though. My tablet works well enough.

Well it’s the plug in ground (black wire) on the headunit connection. Not sure if it’s 100% solid though.

Don’t think the radio itself is bad because the previous alpine head unit did the same thing. Now replaced today with this kenwood unit and does the same thing so thinking something other than the new wiring or head unit is the cause

Yeah I would make sure the radio harness on the truck side is solid then. It probably clips into a subharness for the dash down by the driver or passenger footwell so you can check there too.

Where's the list of 2 dozen things? :p Not a whole lot of options on this road. An inclinomter may have been a good tell-tale of when to reevaluate, or turn around.

Did wiggle that around also in the initial shakedown to try to find the issue. No dice. But didn’t check on a possible loose connector there

Pictures don't make this look as sketchy as it feels. More sketch than Black Bear for those that are familiar imo.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
Don't act as if you don't realize there are always a multitude of decisions that are made along the trail that could have been done differently. (refrencing that proverbial list) Along with that, I don't know how capible that Pathfinder was in the first place, maybe it shouldn't have been there to begin with.

Great, an inclinometer is a tool. You use one, that's beautiful... but there are literally hundreds of thousands of off road vehicles that don't have one, don't need one, and somehow manage to make it up and down some of the gnarliest places in the world.

Oh, I can tell it's sketchy, and I'm not trying to take anything away from it, but I don't see how a guage on your dash is even going to help in that situation.

You could be looking at your guage, and it could be telling you you're angle is great... but you take the wrong line off the wrong rock, and your day is fucked before guage even knows whats up.

I love Pismo! Was there 4 weeks ago. September is about the time of year when it starts to get too cold to go. Well for us anyway, we normally ride at night. Also risk of running into windy days. Pismo absolutely sucks when it's windy. It was a bit windy when we went in late August.
