Front End Question

Hey this is prolly a dumb question, but how are these: different from something like this: With the Bilstein's do you use the stock coil and basically just "make" a coilover? Or you do just buy longer coils?

 

The bilsteins are adjustable. You use your stock coil. Basically, with the bilsteins - you can adjust the position of the lower coil seat. The higher the coil sits, the more lift (preload) you will get. Notice the threads on the shock body near the lower coil seat.

The OME setup is not adjustable. You can't change the position of the lower coil seat. You need to have a different coil spring with a higher spring rate to achieve the same amount of lift.

 

Are there any good write-ups for installing shocks and dealing with coil springs?

 

to swap out the springs youll need a spring compressor that you can rent/buy at any auto store. the shocks are basically a direct replacement. one bolt on the bottom and three bolts up top

 

so for me...buying some bil's and throwing in a spacer or something (to get a full 2.5-3) is way cheapear to get front lift than to buy ome c/o's? Then I would just need an AAL + rear shocks, and I could prolly fit some large 32's or small 33s?
