    Hi guys,
Last winter I noticed that the drivers side carpet was wet underneath the floor mat, and since it was so cold outside I just decided to leave it and find the problem once summer came around. All of this summer the carpet was completely dry, even through rainstorms and what not. Now that it’s started to get cold again, the drivers side carpet is starting to get wet again. I’m thinking it has something to do with the fact that I’ve got the heater on when it’s cold out and maybe coolant is leaking onto the carpet? I can’t tell if it’s coolant or water though, it just smells kinda musky.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Willing to bet it’s water that is in your carpet. Get plastic mats that catch all the water. Willing to bet your problem desists. Also I believe The intercooler for the heat is on the passenger side. So that rules a leaking heater

I’ve got plastic mats currently on top of the carpet that catch water, it’s in the carpet that’s the issue

Doesn’t by chance have a sun roof does it?

You can also pull the carpet back pretty easy and see what’s under there. Still bet it’s water tho. The rubber mats don’t go under the pedals so slop can very easily get down there.

    You running weathertech mats?

No sunroof (sadly) it’s an 05. Running stock rubbers, so yeah maybe it’s coming from the pedals. Just seems like it’s a lot because I can put my hand on the carpet and it’ll be soaking wet... doesn’t do it at all in the summer no matter how wet my boots were

My old Chevy used to do the same thing...didn’t matter how long I ran the heater it was always wet in the cooler months. Never an issue during the summer.

I don’t have carpet in my current truck and do notice salt rings in low lying areas when I pick my weathertech up in the winter.

Pay attention when you get in and out; you would be amazed on how much crap comes off your shoes when entering and exiting.

Yeah I’ll do that, I’m also considering swapping out the carpets with that all weather flooring.... if there’s water leaking in the cab though wouldn’t that cause an even bigger problem because the water would just sit between the cab and the all weather flooring?

Yes and no. There are grommets where the wire loom comes through to the left of your driver seat. Eventually the water would make its way out. If you did have a leak I think you would see issues during the spring and early summer when it rains a lot.

I use my truck as a tool and removed my carpet the second week I had it. I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Makes cleanup so much easier, and the road noise isn’t that much worse. After you put floor mats in the only place you can see carpet is around he center consol.BUT, I also have an access cab with the rear seats deleted. In a double cab I could see things being different.
