Not the Tundra. The 1st gen Tundra v6 3.4l was available with a 5MT.

Okay, yea then there are tons of TSB's on this vehicle for "snowflakes" - and apparently there are lots of snowflakes out there that dont like the tranny - because if you dont like the Tacoma, you are indeed a Liberal - everyone knows this is true.

I dont know about politics, but If you “dont like the tranny”, you more likely than not don’t understand vehicles....

I grew up on a farm in the midwest. I drove tractors, pickup trucks, semi's, combines, motorcycles, 4-wheelers. I know plenty about vehicles, and I know how I want my vehicles to shift. You obviously like the way it operates - congratulations . . ., but the fact that you like it brings up a serious question in my mind as to which one of us actually doesn't "understand vehicles" and how they should shift.

Because it’s pushing much more than a Tacoma does with its V6.

I feel like the Tundra's nightmarish MPG could be greatly helped if they just made the damn thing smaller. It's practically the size of an F350. It's absurd.

Okay. It is very respectable to hear that your grew up in a farm. Wish I would have been that lucky.

Here is a piece of info to help you out... what you dont like avout the truck is not the trasmission, it is the factory tune / mapping. The trasmission doesnt have an issue. You just dont like the way Toyota set its operation parmeters. To include throttle mapping.

Keep in mind that this was done for fuel efficiency.

If you learn your truck and your right foot (transmission and trottle pedal), you will be happier with its operation. Also keep in mind that although the new 3.5 is much more powerful that it predecessor, it is its happiest up top of the power band. This 3.5 makes its power up top. So dont be affraid to get on the gas.

I was considering a tundra too when I’m done with this Tacoma.

Between the horrible mpg and poor payload I’m not sure I’ll go that direction.

Thanks for your info. . . much of this is what I have already read - and I understand (throttle mapping Yada yada yada). I have already figured out the right foot. After driving vehicles my whole life, I just want to put the thing in DRIVE, and press the accelerator.. . and for $38,000, I should be able to do that. Now if I want to go off-road, I'll get on my 4-wheeler - but this is my main vehicle - bought it for retirement.

Here are some actual facts about Tundra vs Tacoma when it comes to what is faster as per people who test these for a living. It shows that Tundra is quite a bit faster than the Tacoma.

Turn off TC and press Tow/haul and I'd bet Tundra would run even quicker.

I am not sure the laws in WV, but typically on trade ins you get discounted the sales tax of your trade in. For example your trade in is 30k and sales tax is 10% you get 3k credit towards the sales tax on the vehicle you purchase.

Not sure this works in every state. But good info to know if it does, car sales people can be mischievous.

Why do people care which is faster? They're trucks, not sports cars.
