Please ignore the question above, we know how many of each were purchased via the active UltraGauge group buy found here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ultragauge-group-buy.568684/

We at UltraGauge would be very interested in understanding what the reasons were for selecting either the wireless or wired version.

Your comments and feedback will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,
    UltraGauge

Thank you for putting on the group buy. I went with the wired version for a few reasons. I am going to be upgrading my radio again and I didn't want to have any issues with how I connect to the radio and the Blue wireless simultaneously. Also I saw a few posts where there were some connectivity issues with the app. The ability to customize the gauges and updating without returning it were what had me leaning towards wireless in the beginning. Your company confirmed in an email that Blue does do trans temps as well. Also figured it would be easier to just have the wired version and not have to worry about another drain on my phones battery. Both look like excellent products and the decision wasn't easy.

Have we hit the shipping number for the group buy yet?

As a previous owner of the "blue" i will say that the BLUE leaves a lot to be desired for long term use. The app crashes and constantly has connection issues. I have an Ipad Mini built into my dash and used it as the display for the longest time. That is until the blue stopped working all together. I know that people say the blue will read the transmission temp however I could never get it to function properly. I was a huge proponent of the BLUE until i used it for a little over a year. add on that it breaks easily when struck by your foot near the E-brake makes for expecting disaster and finally getting it after knowing that you will eventually kick and break this piece of plastic applying your E-brake.

I bought the MX plus for the separate screen so that I wouldn't have to worry about the terrible app crashing constantly and never being able to use all of the features of it.

I seriously considered the Blue but ultimately got the MX. Having the MX wired in seems more practical to me. Not having to touch my phone which is now illegal in my state is a plus. Honestly I feel its a bit more gimmicky on your phone and I see it being a forgotten APP like 87% of the APPs on phones. For me the first time the app started acting up I would have stopped using it. Which is unfortunate.

Now on the flip side the biggest reason I was considering it was to be able to move it from vehicle to vehicle more quickly to use more like an OBD2 scanner just to scan codes. But how often do I need to do this for other vehicles.....never.

Tell us how you really feel. Lol, jk. It's good to get honest feedback from people who have used products long term.

For me I just ordered a MX because it's easier to me to just have it on the corner of the windshield and just glace at it when needed rather than putting an app on my phone (something that already does too much; phone, GPS, music) or setting up an old phone and having to wire that in to be charged anyways.

I ordered the wired version because I'd rather have a dedicated, purpose-built device to display this information, particularly the transmission temps when I'm towing. I already have a bluetooth ODBII device if I need to pull codes.
I don't think I will use this for general around-the-town driving, but who knows!

I've had a wired version since 2010, also purchased in a GB here on TW. For me I would rather have a dedicated unit mounted in my vehicle rather than an app on my phone. I use my phone for other things. So the app on the phone IMO is only good for quick viewing rather than being dedicated. I don't use a phone mount for my phone when driving. Sure I could use one of my older phones & dedicate it but why, the UG wired display is so much more compact. One of the main reasons why I choose the UG over SG.

I purchased a new one in the current GB cause my old UG's display is starting to go dim in one corner.

I went with the MX because I wanted to monitor transmission temps -- I don't trailer often but I wheel enough that I'd like to keep an eye on things and see if I need a larger cooler. I will have mine hardmounted to my dash trim on the left side of the cluster. I tried using the torque app on an old phone and didn't love the setup/how clunky/not stock it looked, so I figured this would be a good device.

Thanks to @ramonortiz55 and @UltraGauge for setting this up literally the day I was going to order one. If you can do that for the rest of my purchases in the future, that would be swell.

Thanks @UltraGauge for the group buy. I went with the wired version so I wouldn't have to worry about connecting my phone and opening the app whenever I got in the car. I think the wireless version would be great for diagnostic stuff but I know I would forget to turn it on sometimes (or just straight up leave my phone at home).

Use my phone as a GPS so can't use UGBlue. Would love if all UGs had RGB LEDs on the circuit board for customized display color.

I went with the wired version simply because once I mount it and get it set I won't have to mess with it anymore. Seems like a lot of trouble connecting it to my phone every time I want to read temps/info. My phone is already used a lot in the truck (music and gps) and I didn't want to have another app burning battery in the background. Thanks for the group buy!!!

@UltraGauge, I have the wireless version; I believe it is called UltraGauge Blue. Last June, I took it on a long trip from Northern Virginia to Atlanta and back. It worked great.

But now all of a sudden, it stopped working. Every time I open the phone app (Android) it says "No Vehicle" and I can't find anywhere where to tell it what king of vehicle I have. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the app, re-paired the Bluetooth but still nothing.
Is there an "Add Vehicle" section somewhere that I am not seeing? :help:

I've not had good experience long term with bluetooth devices. I chose wired to ensure reliability, even though the wire requires attention and can be an obstruction itself.

    Thanks for the GB @UltraGauge

I went with MX as I've read problems with the wireless. I also have a lot of things that I do with my iphone like my music and Gaia . I prefer not switching back and forth between several apps while driving.

thanks @UltraGauge for the group buy.

I went with the MX because I want something I can easily see to reference while I'm driving. While bluetooth would be nice, its just easier to have the MX sitting in the corner of the dash always displaying temps and what not.
