My two cents on Toyotas new package:

so, this seems to me like a joke. Considering the loyalty that Toyota has, their profit margin, and the competition they are beginning to face in all their truck categories, this seems like a half assed attempt to throw a bone at its customers. Its clear they are trying to get more affordable "cool" looking models in their lineup so guys/gals who cant afford a 6-700 car payment can get into something better than base models.
At any rate, to charge $600-1800 for this SX package SUX! For $18 worth of paint, and badge kits on ebay, a guy could accomplish most of this package in his driveway. The color matched bumper caps surey don't cost 500 to paint lol.
I sincerely hope that Toyota reads this forum and addresses the issues with the third generation, and offers up a model that actually mirrors the efforts of the US brand trucks trying hard to dethrone Toyota.
I do love my Tacoma, but it has room for improvement. Improvements that should've been made on the 3rd generation prior to its release. Something better than an SUX package would be nice lol

What do you guys think about it?

edit: I had a brain fart and didn't catch that this package is for the base tacos- so now that i understand more, it actually is a good package. sometimes i dont think before i type and post lol

The only way for anyone to voice their opinion is to not buy it. With which regarding past years’ cosmetic packages, ex: TSS, T-force, XSP, etc is usually moot. Someone will want it and that’s why they make them.

The SX Package wheels are the SR5 dark alloys. The retail for ~200 each at the Toyota parts counter. So at $570 for the package, it looks like a good deal if you like the wheels.

Seems like a nice truck, basic with an access cab 6 cylinder option.

And you can get it in quicksand.

    Good job, Toyota.

There's people with $600-$700 a month payments on Tacoma's? Ouch.

I am pretty sure sx package is only on access cabs, therefore you can't get the v6.

You can get the v6 with the sr but double cabs only i believe.

    3000 trade on a 40,000 truck over 5 years?

Or worse, negative equity from their old Ridgeline/Colorado "trade".

I'm not in the market, just going by what I read here at TW

A 2019 SR 4x4 access cab, 6cyl AT with the SX pkg in quicksand- $32k USD......for the record, it's really similar to my 2016 SR5, and I paid $30k, but still a good value for a nice Tacoma in 2019, imo.

I like it. Nice package, I think.

Ok dude, we are all proud of the fact you paid cash for your truck. Well done. Let's stay on-topic.

I found it interesting that it's just assumed everyone with a new truck is in debt to the tune of $700 a month.

i guess im the only one lol i'm feeling like the outcast in highschool.

this has nothing to do with my post but thought I'd respond:
i paid 39k for my new tacoma with all the crap i added onto it on a 5 year note no cash down, so yeah, its pretty easy to be paying upwards of $600 a month. Im not rich, i pay child support, and so saving isnt an option.
I wish i was like some folks here who had cash down plus impeccable credit but i didnt.
consider yourself blessed and realize that not everyone is as fortuneate.
thankfully next year i'm done paying my ex-wife, and my credit will go up 100-200 points overnight as a result.
maybe then i can have a realistic car payment, or none at all. ;)

I think you are really paying for the alloy wheels on this package.

4cyl with alloys black flares and a painted front bumper, sounds good to me. The closest thing to a 4cyl OR.

Don't feel like an outcast! To each their own! We all get to our destination differently! I feel ya on the Child support, low credit score, no liquid cash etc....its the journey that builds character my friend! Never had easy......dont want it! Hell 4 years ago I had hundreds of thousands stolen from me, lost my job and was living with my mother as a 36 year old single father with (2) children. Now......living the dream...literally! Started from the bottom, back on top! Give it time my man, keep positive! Always strive to be the best you can be! Bam!

Always remember life is what you make of it, its not what happens but how you react to it!

All this was cheezy....but true! Sorry feeling super positive today! :oldglory::thumbsup::cheers:

For some people, financing with a low APR is better than paying cash when you can invest that cash instead. Cash is not king.

I haven't experienced anything like this myself but I feel a compassion for you. But many times these things happen because God is using the situation to draw you nearer to Himself. Just think about this when you can

Romans 8:28 - And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose

How much are you planning on coming out ahead investing and paying interest, than just paying cash?

I penciled it out to a couple hundred dollars saved at most. A house is a different story. A small auto loan, definitely not worth it.

Hard to build or re-build your Credit if you just pay cash! Financing helps someone re-build their credit...there's always more then just the numbers my man! Then again a secured credit card does the same thing, just smaller scale. Theres a positive behind everything, its all about perspective!

thank you all for the feedback- good stuff here.
I'm 42 years old, and pretty new to this offroad truck stuff- but I have been wrenching on old hotrods (1920's-1950's) since i was old enough to drive. What i found through building a couple of Model A's is that most car guys are pretty good folks-
I see that that carries over into the Toyota Truck crowd too- All of the folks I met on the burger run I set up last year were cool.
    Definitely right about life @specter208
I grew up the same way- ;)
Im not cash rich, but i have a very rich life.
Amazing mother/wife, amazing kids- great job.
Things are on their way up for sure
