I get by. Lots of reading and I have a pretty high level of confidence with this truck just because it's old.

Last week scared me. Blew off an intake coupler and the whole truck died. Sounded like I blew the engine up.

Congrats dude. Best feeling in the world once it fires and doesn't have any problems huh?

How far down did you rebuild

Same here. Many countless hours on youtube and forums researching.

I ignore most noises. Having sqaure tube driveshafts conditions you listen for shit that really sounds out of place.

It was a great feeling. It was the longest 3-4 seconds of something like anxiety until I finally saw the needle on the oil pressure jump up to know I had oil pressure.

I took apart the entire block. New main & rod bearings, piston rings, crank, head bolts, swapped rods from another block, main/crank seals, oil pump, water pump, timing kit, honed cylinders, and adjusted valves. Probably a few other things I'm forgetting.

I wanna putt around the Hodge Road area on Sunday to break it in if I can avoid getting too hammered tomorrow night. My friend finally killed his pig and it is gonna be a huge bbq.

Got around to investigating what I though was a blown HG. Well no milk shake....still has good compression.
Looking around I found my idle screw fell out, which is why it wouldn’t run. At the same time a hose under my intake blew causing me to overheat the way it did.
So happy this is a easy fix I won’t be out of commission all season long:bananadance::bananadance::bananadance::bananadance:

Nice! Part of me wishes I had done a full tear down of my block but I didn't have the knowledge or the tools to do it then.

That thing should last forever now
You should be fine. Is it an interference engine? Its diesel too right?

    New product idea:
Magnetic skottle that doubles as parts tray...
And the base doubles as a jack stand.
    :yay:

If I didn't already have the cheaper, more compact version, I would be all over it!
