Or you could get the Manual and OVtune and make it even more awesome...

Thanks for the insight, I definitely need to test drive a manual. My thoughts were that it was a truck, who wants a manual truck? And didn’t even bother... now that I like driving this thing in “s” mode I feel like a normal manual with a pedal would be good fun.

Any numbers you might share for reference?

Forget the financial loss, it’s priceless to end up with something you’re stoked on. Well worth it IMO

If it were me, i'd wait for a significant upgrade to the model first. But I like my auto so I can see waiting. If you hate your truck, then do what you gotta do.

I talked a dealer into $39k last week for a cavalry blue manual pro, if they can give me $32+ for my truck with 8k miles I’ll be thrilled

Certainly do not hate the truck. This has been a dream truck of mine! Just wouldn’t mind the manual is all, but it’s not a bad idea to wait for a useful upgrade which I hear may come in 2020

Then again the Subaru WRX STI is supposed to get a refresh in 2020 as well (maybe the fa24 from the ascent?) in which case I’ll be hurting to make a decision

Maybe check around for a used one to test out. I found a used 16 sport MT at my dealer once and took it for a spin. I didn't think much of it personally. I grew up on MT's and owned MT vehicles before, I just found it meh if i'm honest.

Your truck man. I’m a utility type of guy, so a turbo just seems like a bad idea until the truck’s warranty is completely over. Turbos are hot and heat is the enemy of an engines life. The hotter the quicker things break down.

This is of course my opinion. You are in no way wrong in what you choose. I believe version 1.05 of the tune that will release soon... is going to be a game changer

Yup, no prob. 2017 TRD OR DCSB 9k miles. P&T pkg. clear bra. $33k trade-in.

2018 TRD OR DCSB 6MT, brand new with 6 miles. No options (like I wanted) and Cement. $33k (included taxes/fees). So, even trade with almost nothing out of pocket.

I drove a few autos but bought a manual. I prefer manual and just like it. The automatic I drove was a sport and I didn’t really have a issue with it. If I had to do it again I would get a manual. That said you lose the push button start. They said you can’t do it with a manual but my brz did. Anyway if I were you i would not trade it in unless it was a minor loss, however if I were to buy one again it would be a MT

What makes you suggest an AC? I don’t recall reading about what his needs/wants were for passenger capacity.

Get the manual. I got rid of my auto for a manual and have zero regrets.

Plus you never know when Toyota will finally decide to discontinue the MT and it’ll be worth a fortune (although I hope they don’t stop offering them)

I moved from a MT to an auto and never going back. A manual transmission used to be a cheaper option but now you have to dang near special order the things. Outside of hunting and camping trips offroad my truck is a daily back and forth to work vehicle, im not exactly rock crawling the thing if you know what i mean. I always felt like an automatic was a fancy upgrade i just couldnt afford until i was able to get this truck. Manuals serve their purpose but unless you really need it I wouldnt bother. Also, the wife may need to pick something up and need the truck and she never learned a manual. Fwiw i got an 18 sport

I test drove in 2016 TuRD gen AT - hated it, got instead 2015 AT and it was meh (no different from my 2005 taco), then traded it in for 2018 MT ACLB Off-Road. Should've done that from the beginning. In fact some TuRD gen owners who drive AT wished they got MT after driving my truck for a bit, it's a completely different experience.

MT offers 4.30 gears, just saying. :bikewhoops:
I drive my MT in the city in a constant stop and go traffic, no issues whatsoever, I crawl in 1st gear like I do on trails
Excuse " I can't drive MT in the city because of a traffic" is a simple laziness. :burnrubber:

Yea I drive in Phoenix a lot and there is plenty of stop and go. No issues there. Now what the previous poster said about his wife is an issue. My wife doesn’t like manual. In a pinch she could do it but won’t like it. That said she maybe once drove my last car in the 5 years I had it. Then again my last car didn’t have a truck bed so we will see, anyway She loves her Toyota
