    Hi,

I'm new here as far as posting goes, but I found the group last year when I started looking for a Tacoma.

Is it just me? I've got three dealers looking for me, plus I search a lot, but can't find any stickshift 4x4, extended cab, 4 cylinder Tacomas! Well, there's one in Victoria that was brought in from America, but after two months, they still can't get it landed in Canada.

I thought this configuration would be really popular, but I'm starting to wonder if I got that wrong. I'm OK with 2005-2006 years old, but so far we haven't found anything - anywhere!

It's not like i'm being picky - I just can't find the basics. Anyone know of a good used truck in western Canada?

    Thanks

    Dave

Hi there. The name's (you guessed it) John. :D BTW, this is my 1st post too..!

I'm searching for a Tacoma also, but a TRD is what I'm after.

That being said, I took the truck I hope to buy for a test drive today ('09 TRD sport, gray, 6spd crew).

But it just so happens, they have this on their lot also (it's listed as a RWD, but clearly shows otherwise in the pics & I saw the truck in person)...

2005 TOYOTA TACOMA ACCESS CAB (silver base-model, 2.7L 6spd, 64xxx kms) Calgary, AB $18,995 <--- low Kms for an '05, IMO...

    Hi John,

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post. I called the dealer about the Tacoma you pointed me towards, but they insisted that truck is not a 4x4! I told them what you said, but they wouldn't budge on that.

That doesn't surprise me - another Toyota saleman in Victoria told me today that Toyota doesn't make a 4x4 with a 4-cylinder! He actually argued with me about it, even when I told him to look at the "build your truck" on toyota.com.

After his manager told him that there really was such a vehicle, he said "that must be new", then tried to convince me to buy a 6-cylinder automatic from him!

I made it so easy for him - 2.7L, manual transmission, 4x4, extended cab, under 60,000Kms, don't care about bling or colour. Sheesh!

Thanks again for your help, though.

Welcome to TW. As you already know, that salesman was clueless. The truck I own is exactly what you're looking for. Unfortunately it's not for sale. Is it a model that is not available in Canada?:notsure:

    This is correct for all 2005 and up Tacomas. V6 - 6 spd, 4cyl. - 5 spd.

Well it is a standard transmission, 5 or 6spd was kinda irrelavant...

To quote the salesman I dealt with there when I brought the grey TRD sport back from the test drive, "Huh... They don't even know what they've got..!"

    He said that in regards to me;
    1) asking him if it was a TRD because it has no box stickers indicating so.
    2) me showing him it was indeed a TRD because of the scoop/colormatched grill&bumpers/Auto-LSD/etc...

I showed him the back-up cam in the rear-view mirror, he had a nervous twitch and gasped "oh my, I had no idea that was even there..."

Also, the 4cyl one is definately a 4x4. Here's the pic from there ad... Call them and tell them to go outside and look for the switch, even if is still raining...

Thanks NAAC3TACO - it's available here if I want to buy new. I guess no one wants to give them up, though. There are diffeerences in what comes with an SR5 package Canada only has one, US has two), and TRD Canada has two (I think), and US has three or four.) My search contionues though

Hi John - That's a little scary to have so many salepeople not know the product. Did Toyota do a purge or something, and hire all new staff?

Depending on how you look at it, it's unfortunate (& well hopefully fortunate for me if I buy that TRD) that they don't know what they're talking about or what they have on their lot...

BTW, both trucks (the one I drove & this 4cyl one I'm showing you) are at a Chev dealership... That's probably 1/2 the reason they're clueless...

After taking a closer look at the dash pics, it appears to be an American truck...

The top of the speedo gauge looks like it says 60 (& just to the right a 7), then under it MPH. Can any US members confirm..?

    ;)

My 60 mph is actually to the left of center, that 60 looks like it's to the right. Also my door lock knobs are red when unlocked, those look yellow, but that could just be the camera.
