    Here's an option: look up some threads where people just got rid of the whole carrier bearing setup and went with a custom solid axle- u joint at trans/transfer case and u joint at rear diff.

    When my carrier bearing goes I'm doing without it. Seems like the cost is okay and the ground clearance you lose is negligible

    This helped but my yolk is so seized on I can’t pull it off I’ve tried almost everything I can think of☹️

    Just did mine last weekend exactly as described in this thread. The bearing came off very easily though.

    Might try heating the bearing with a torch and jarring it with a hammer.

    Are the pullers just slipping off before you can start tightening down? The claws might just be worn off of those rentals. I have a crappy set from HF that cost $30. They work ok.

    Edit: Didn’t realize you haven’t gotten the yolk off yet.

    Yeah the jaw puller I used wasn’t long enough to pull the yolk off so I used a spacer and it just kept slipping off the little spacer I used ive tried heat anti seize this thing is kickin my ass‍♂️

    Or, instead of spending like $300 fighting it, only to do it again in the future, just take it all out and go with one piece shaft. Mine, customs made, aluminum was $650. I ended up getting the driveshaft made because of lift, but since I've owned the truck, I've changed my center bearing twice before. Could have just spent the $$$ on a shaft and be done with it. Just my 2 pennies worth.

    50/50 mix ATF and acetone in a spray bottle is about the best you can use to brake seized parts, if your going to fight it, try that. Just keep shaking the bottle to keep it mixed.

    I've heard nothing but great things about Tom Woods, but I think local is better, you can be there, they can crawl under your truck and check out your situation first hand, if you have problems, they are right there. Plus, your supporting a local business. :) which is always good. But like anything else, just like Tom Woods, make sure the shop is highly recommended by other Tacoma owners!

    The shop I used was recommended by a guy who has been building custom trucks since I was a kid. When, I went by the shop and we spent an hour talking about Tacoma's before we got down to business... I knew I was in the right place, lol!

    I've replaced mine twice. I have a bearing splitter. I rested the shaft on the splitter by the carrier bearing, then pushed down from the end of the shaft with a press. It didn't take much pressure. I can see tapping the end of the end of the shaft with a rubber mallet, but you will need something solid to rest the splitter.

    I just went take apart a driveshaft with bad carrier, hope this helps, lol!

    One time the bearing would not come off no matter what! I cut the bearing off down to the sleeve (touching the sleeve with screw driver in the pic) soaked it in ATF for about a day, then used a puller to pull the remaining sleeve off.

    Hope that helps... Last resort.

    Just did mine on Wednesday and that's what I did. Cut the rubber completely off, then hammered the bearing off with a punch.
