Do you have your tire selection narrowed down to anything?

Probably 33x12.50R15's unless I do a little body lift. I wouldn't do more than two inches and it would be done right, with gap guards and whatnot.. I just can't justify $2k for a 6" lift plus the cost of 35's... But as I said, probably 33's when I can find em...

If those 5100's are set to zero, you will have a nice rake going. The 881's are rated for about 2" of lift whilst the rear leaf pack will go up 3". Are you using any sort of trim packer for extra front lift?

I'm thinking about setting the billies at .85" or just putting the trim packer in there. Plus I don't mind rake and I haul a lotta shit.

Would that be ok? I'm not 100% sure that the OME's are the 881's either. I have yet to see em. I just told the guy I'd be there, cash in hand. I don't care what they are.

Ok so I went down there and got my stuff tonight, so stoked. I got front 5100's, OME 881's, rear OME Dakar's, greasable shackles, brand new bilstein rear shocks that match up to the Dakar's, PLUS the guy threw in a 4.56 ring and pinion :) SCORE!

    Pics soon.

Oh and I decided to take some measurements of how the truck sits right now on stock worn suspension. Those will be posted tomorrow also.

Oh and I have a quick question for those of you that have the OME dakar's on the rear. Do you I need longer than stock U bolts for the rear end? I forgot to crawl under there while it was light out to see how much thread was on them stock...

It's always suggested to NOT reuse u-bolts. They are a relatively cheap part at your local autoparts store.

Can you post or PM me where you found the Bilstein's with the .85" setting? Most I see now are either 0, 1 or 2.5. I'd like to use the .85" and level out my '96, and I feel the 1", even though technically level, won't look quite right. Thx.

First Gen billies have three settings versus the second gen having 4 settings. They don't have a .85 setting on the first gens. It's 0(stock), 1.25" and 2.5"

What's easier to get, 1st gens or 2nd gens (when they are available)?

Yup... the billies I got have only three settings on them so I assume, 0", 1.25", and 2.5". The guy that I got them from was running the billies set at 1.25" with the 881's and never had any issues. So I plan to stick with that...

Took the afternoon off today and started taking the rig apart :)

So I got the fronts off in literally a half an hour, I ran them to my buddies alignment shop so he could switch the top plates for me. I guess they were a total PITA. While he had the fronts I tore the rear apart and installed the new leaf springs, had to drill out the bump stops to accommodate for the length of the spring center pin. Used all new u-bolts, and shackles. Installed the shocks and it was done. Ran up and picked up the front billies and had to race to work. Off to the shop now to reinstall the front billies and tomorrow I need to get my new tires mounted and balanced, BFG KM2's :)
