What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I went ahead and ordered hood, fender, radiator, AC condenser, shroud, bumper & valence, grille, and filler panels. Still a few parts I need, but should be <$150 more.

I am impatient and figure if I get this truck on the road, w/o paint, for under $2200, I can still justify it. Then it's just a matter of how much do I want to spend on paint and how nice I want it to look: do it myself for $500 in supplies and have amateur results (like my current truck); spend thousands and have a real beauty...? TBD on that decision. If i but the pro money into appearance, one of these trucks has to go up for sale.

If I go cheap, I'll keep them both, at least for a while. Might sell the Camry... hate to as I am original owner 2003 w/155,000 3.0L XLE all options. Awesome car. Boring yes. Daily driver, can't be beat. Super comfortable leather seats. Driving position fits me like a glove.

As I said before, the underbody/frame are super clean, unlike my current 95. That's almost unheard of in this part of the country for a 95 that's less that $5000. So, I'm not close to panicking yet on the investment.

 

This is what I have done. Lifted the front almost 1/2" .

 

Any issue with the top plate studs being long enough? Thats really my only concern. Seems like I have just enough threads poking out to make it work.

 

No issue with that, used the stock studs.

 

You could just rhino line it your self if you wanted to, I dunno what your plans are with it but lining mine is probably one of my more useful mods.

 

I took a shower with my door seals to give them a good cleaning

 

I think you made a good investment. Does the fender apron need to be cut and replaced?

 

Not on the stock suspension.

 

Guess it's time for a part-out. Or I guess I could trade it in for a 2019...

Hey y'all. Im in the middle of a radiator swap for the first time. I have a 98 manual and the new radiator has the ports for the trans lines for an auto with these flimsy rubber caps on them. Do I need to plug the ports since I won't be using them, or are they not connected to the rest of the radiator. Wanna find out before I put the new radiator in so I dont have to get in there to plug them later.

One of the caps is cracked and messed up, do I need to fully cap them? Seems to me if there was pressurized fluid in the ports it would blow the caps right off, theyre pretty flimsy

 

Doesn't matter, leave the caps on or off, plug them, whatever. I would leave at least the caps on though.

 

Well I mean, a I little editation helps a bit.
