same... i'm not saying there's no learning on the MT, but it's never been clear that mine has ever learned or changed bevavior. i watch it carefully and see all kinds of changes like different response in different temps & humidity, etc, but nothing has been clearly from my driving inputs. i've even gone so far as to change how i use the throttle for a week at a time and there's never been any obvious difference from that.

Agreed, it's not "learning" WRT driver inputs but rather due to everything settling in over time (Knock correction, fuel trims, etc etc.). Mat mentioned this a few times.

The one thing I always notice is throttle delay/inconsistency. Every file I've flashed starts off one way and then changes over time. Sometimes it takes several hundred miles.

Oh and it's bipolar when it comes to temps/humidity - very noticeable difference.

i totally get it having seen your reports since this all began. i have watched my throttle response as the main thing since that's what you've always said is a big issue for you. i haven't ever seen my throttle response change over time after a flash. it always has stayed the same as far as i can see. probably one of those 04B10 things.

Isn't that just VSC, TRAC and all the other nannies doing their job? I get the feeling a lot of us were raised in the pre-drive-by-wire era, and we miss the direct connection an analog throttle + manual trans gave us to the road. Perhaps we'll just have to look back fondly. Maybe I should have kept my '95.

I'd have to say no to the nannies, because right after flashing a particular file my throttle may be very responsive and consistent... but over time it would become delayed or "squishy". It would then stay that way until the next flash.

This is another reason I eagerly await 1.05, because I'm on 04B13 based code now - AND Mat (OVtune) has learned quite a bit more recently WRT ECU code.

Finally got it updated. Amazing how hard it is to communicate these days. The dealer said they thought I wanted an update to the manual transmission calibration. Once they actually looked into it and didn’t just blow me off, they figured it out. Truck is much smoother now.

I was turned away this morning. Service rep looked at the first page and saw “automatic” then quickly denied the tsb working for my truck.....

That's TSB 125-18, right? Still doesn't include MY 2018 but it's a step in the right direction

Yeah that’s the one. I didn’t notice your year. People with 18’s have still had it done. Problem is you are probably super limited with dealerships in HI. Just print the AT one off and try again maybe soon. It has the ECU code at least.

Yes this is the problem for ‘18 MT owners. 125-18 is 16-17 and 58-18 is AT. If you can find someone at the dealership willing to hear you out and look at the calibration numbers they hopefully will figure it out.

Talked to a service advisor at my local dealer when picking up some oil filters.
I think they will do it, I’ll find out this week.

Has anyone figured out a build date for when Toyota started shipping with the updated calibrations?

A page or so back, folks with 08.2018 build dates were told that their Tacos were up to date. Those folks never did confirm the ECU IDs though.

Mine was built 7.2018. I haven’t checked the calibration numbers. Two biggest complaints are the tricky 1-2 shift and this thing feels like it has a rag stuffed in the throttle body below 2500. Would like to try the new calibration and let others beta test the new OV tune

Mine was built on 6/18 and was told it doesn't apply. Had the truck about 2 months and the stumble is driving me crazy.

I can't keep my foot off the throttle anymore! This thing flies now & I am even more proud now about choosing the manual over A/T.
As per the HUD stats I am probably getting 1 - 1.5mpg less but I could care less about that, maybe because I am pushing it like a maniac.
With the older ECU tune you had to drive it like a semi, now it is closer to a sports car feel and I have to get adjusted back again!
You can drive around slow traffic and parking lots in 2nd gear or even 3rd in some places. The new smooth & instant delivery of torque gives the feeling of a all new vehicle drivetrain. From what I can judge the throttle position adjustments are revving the engine a bit higher with a smoother curve. Now, time to fix the clutch pedal squeak.

That’s crazy. I’m the opposite of your situation. Still don’t have the ECU upgrade but my clutch is getting squared away. I’m gonna talk to them some more when I go to have the parts installed and hopefully get both done the same day.
