Finally a fix from Toyota for Stumble condition (TSB 0062-18)

Great question. I’m calling Toyota service tomorrow to schedule the 58 Rev 1 and the 62 ÉCU updates. I’ll ask them about whether OVtunes voids any warranty, unless someone beats me to it.

Went to get my recall taken care of and also got TSB-0062-18 update taken care of. First impressions are great so far. 1st and 2nd gears stay engaged a bit more and way smoother down shifting and WOT responce. Over all it drives smoother now. Also order parts for the TBS-0063-18 (lack of AC performance at idle in high ambient temp.) will be installed next weekend. If anybody is having trouble getting the TSB update in the Inland empire go to Claremont Toyota and ask for Danny. He help me out no questions ask in getting both TSB done.

If Toyota knows its there, of course they will void your warranty. Currently they can't tell, so best to let sleeping dogs lie.

 

I'll say it. He's wrong. The TSB fixes the issue it is designed to do. The tranny learning muddles the issue for some. If people are having the TSB done and then have the exact same drive later on, they never needed the TSB in the first place as they clearly aren't describing the symptoms pertaining to the TSB's themselves. Or as you said, never actually got it applied. They are complaining about the learned behavior which is a valid complaint, but seperate.

Mine had a hesitation from a stop and the TSB has eleminated that completely. I have 0 issues with my trucks transmission post TSB.

 

Dont forget we are on winter blend fuel now,so your mileage should go down anyway.

 

No joke. I was enjoying my 26-27mpg all summer. I'm starting to creep into the 23-24mpg range now. . Damned winters in Maine.

 

IF you ask for the update by name, and hand him the latest flash bulletin, will it be put on? If not, what are the reasons why it woulldn't be updated?

 

Depends on the dealership, some will do it without hesitation, some will push back. The problem is the instructions in the TSB say the tech must replicate the issue before the update can be applied.

 

I've had 0 issues with the 3 dealerships I've been to, asking them to install a certain update and them doing it. I've never had a tech have to replicate the issues. Surprised people are having issues with that.

 

Unfortunately in the flat rate environment sometimes things get skipped. It's rarely malicious but the techs only make money by going fast. That's why the sticker gets skipped and that's why they don't torque your wheel nuts properly or forget to put your valve stem cap back on.

Trust but verify.

 

Finally checked for my sticker, found it under the hood just to the left of the catch.

 

So I was at another site watching the OV Tune video and I came across this interesting quote in the comment section of the video:

"When I took my truck in for T-SB-0062-18, the Tech told me 0062-18 is old. He told me the new one is T-SB-0125-18 and had it done about a week ago to my TRD Off Road automatic. Now, she is running as fast and smooth as a 2018 Camry. My Taco is all cool now."

Maybe this is the TSB number in Canada? This was posted 3 days ago.

 

Definitely an American TSB. We won't be fortunate enough to have this as of yet.
Looks promising - but ultimately just a cover up most likely. Either way I'd have this done if I could. Definitely present on my 2017 AT.

Edit: looks like it is ultimately still the same Calibration ID as the previous 62-18

 

Yep, T-SB-0125-18 for 2016/2017 (2018 not listed) uses the same Cal ID as T-SB-0058-18 and T-SB-0062-18.

Whats the ECU version with TSB 0062-18? I got this TSB on my 2016 OR DCLB few weeks ago.

Per OVtune regarding handheld device: “Our handheld tuner will NOT support ECU versions earlier than 04B02. (04B00, 04B01 NOT supported).”
