Back in 2012 when the shuttles were sent to their final destinations, I was working on a house down the street from the Texas Capitol and the shuttle flew right over us, I swear I could have shot at the plane with with my nail gun if I was so inclined....
This is the best picture that I have, if you zoom in, you can make it out as it was flying away. Coolest day ever.

 

I'm glad you are trying. It's a breeze, if you pick up 130 TOLL North of Austin. The FM 812 COTA exit is so well marked, you cannot miss it. AND, it's like just a mile from the exit. You can see COTA the whole time.

He'd probably drink it. That boy has wrecked multiple cars and trucks, crashed fences, lost his wallet, lost his keys, lost his dignity so many times...... We sent him into Austin pick up our checks one time, he drove towards San Antonio instead..... He'd find a way to screw up a simple beer run.

 

So you're saying there is a significant chance he'd end up in San Angelo with a carton of milk.

That's so cool you can go see that shuttle any time you want.

Here's a little factoid. My Dad (RIP), a Marine, we're stationed in Hawaii from 68' - 72'. He had connections and was able to get me and my brother seats in the hatch opening of Apollo 11 when it was in the hangar bay of the USS Hornet. I'm not sure what ever happened to the photo but you'll just have to take my word this is a true story.

 

As of right now, I am. Depends on how the next few weeks go.

To be a part of history like that... amazing. That's one of those things you remember when you can hear the footsteps on the roof and you review the best parts of your life, IMHO.
