    What is up, everybody!

Since I got my Tacoma 2 months ago I have gotten a few things for the truck, but by far the Total Chaos bed stiffeners is the best thing I bought so far.

I have taken the truck to 5 offroad trails already and I plan on doing a bed rack so the bed stiffeners were a must. I especially love that it has tabs where I can securely strap down my cooler or anything else.

Anyone else rocking the TC bed stiffeners?

Here is a video I did of the install if anyone would need it for their install.

There have been a few posts about the different bed stiffeners that are available.

Good video, thanks for posting it.

So I guess I need to do this as I just ordered a canopy. I have seen a few post about these, but was unsure of their purpose.
    Thanks for the video.

I'm fairly new to Toyota, but are these really needed? Are our trucks really built this cheap? I've never heard of them on Chevy or Dodge, none of the Ford guys I know have ever used them, just seems every time I turn around there is something else needing done to correct bad design or fixes for Toyota's corner cutting. Sorry if I seem naive I'm just use to trucks that can go through hell, they may not resell for much but they are built right. I like my Tacoma so far but really hoping I didn't make a mistake buying it.

They are not required for strength unless you start adding alot of weight to the bed rails (think bedrack with a tent or HD cap).
If you dont plan on stuffing your suspension frequently or flex the frame on articulation ramp you will be fine.
Vendors have been making aftermarket parts for this chassis since 2005. There are thousands of products that people will convince you are NEEDED.
The polymer bed design has bee around since 2005. I haven't seen many failures on this forum since i joined in 2012.
My tailgate to fender gap is even and consistent from top to bottom and i do NOT have stiffeners
The biggest perk of the bed stiffener is more tie down locations. IMO

Tacomas have a huge aftermarket. There are a significant amount of owners (pretender-landers or overlanders with gear obsessions) that just buy anything that these 3rd party vendors make.

I had a 2nd gen with a composite bed, which I bobbed, making it even weaker. I didn’t have any sort of bed stiffening bracket like this and I used to haul 500lbs of stuff in the bed including weight on the bed rails, and I didn’t have a single issue with any sort of bed flex.

Also with the bed stiffeners...they’re being mounted at the rear of the bed, which had a pretty beefy steel crossmember connected the bedsides. Sure it would make the bed a little stiffer, but I’m not sure how much benefit there is. Mounting a bed rack would likely add strength to the bed....not reduce strength.

I’m working hard tonight brainstorming. My idea is to make my fortune from TW members that will “need” these items. Here’s my ideas so far (Comments welcome):

    1: off road sun visors
    2: gas tank snorkel
    3: Bluetooth stiffener
    4: quadruple battery mount
    5: exhaust piping black-out vinyl

Just what I’ve come up with so far.

Price to be determined. Having some trouble getting the prototype to stick to the manifold.

Do you need any test trucks? I volunteer only if I get 10% off.

There is no shortage of fords or chevys running functional headache racks that serve the same purpose. I'm guessing you just didnt realize what headache racks were for
