Had to go back and get the matching mig welder, what a pair of machines. I've spent the last 10 years welding as an Emergency Nuclear service tech. and finally decided to start my own business. Hopefully these will get me started. Next is a bender and a plasma. If your close to Charlotte NC we can weld on those sliders or that CMC.

Just saw what my buddy has been working on past 2 days. Using some rusted steel he had in scrap pile. Still has to do wheels, steering wheel, bumpers and side boards. Gonna go in his garden.

I may need an intervention. Planning on building my own TIG chiller.
So far have about $60 in parts and that includes a flow sensor and an alarm for if the pump isn't flowing coolant similar to HTPs set up.

That's a ton of cleaning action on that piece of Ally. What % EN were you using?

I have a set up you could have just needs a pump I brought it home to repair and never did .

I think it is a Tweco one but could be wrong.

The fun part is going to be making a manifold to plug the torch and coolant lines into unless your replacing a cooler on the machine already

Hell, the plumbing is the easy part. But I will take you up on that offer. I can swing by and grab it on the way home in a few weeks.

That was mig with some wire that came with the machine, ER70 & 75/25 gas. The tig was however the factory setting using a pedal. Haven't had a chance to play with the pulse we are still getting the shop together. Picking up a Powermax 30 in the morning.

Do any of you that have made multiple sets of sliders have a recommendation on a good tubing bender? We are going to begin making sliders and maybe some rear bumpers. I have looked at $300.00 to $2000.00 benders. I'd really like to stay under $1000.00. If this takes off I'll invest in a nice hydraulic setup.

I’ve built 65 sets this year in my spare time and I have the JD2 model 3 bender with the swag Offroad hydraulic conversion with the HF 8 ton long arm ram. It works awesome!! Hasn’t let me down!

    Bender (JD2 Model 3) - $310
    Die (1.75” diameter 6.5” radius 180 degrees) - $350
Swag Offroad hydro conversion - $110
HF long arm ram - $100

    Total - $870

Of course you’ll need a few little extras but that’s the basics

You’ll want a plane of bend bracket and digital angle finder as well.

Thanks, I'll look that up now. There is nothing in our area that I like enough to buy, I have over 20 years experience in all aspects of metal working so I decided I would make my own and since I'm in Charlotte NC there should be enough market to make some money also.

Are the hydraulics a must have or can you get good results without it?

It even says it on their website. They are the number 1 tube benders sold to race car fabricators. I’m not building race cars but I felt pretty confident in the product when I did some research on them and realized how big they really are. JD2 is great quality and also great customer service if you need any help with your product. Mine has paid for itself many many times over.

In my opinion, not having to do it manually is a night and day difference. If you go full hydro you’d need a dedicated pump (either hydraulic or electric) for the bender but my unit is air over hydro. If you already have an air compressor in the shop then great. My air compressor hooks up to the hydraulic ram which has a little pump on it that helps to drive the hydraulic ram itself.

Here is the ram holder for my bender

    http://www.swagoffroad.com/SWAG-Formed-Tubing-Bender-AirHydraulic-Ram-Mount_p_53.html

And here is the long arm ram you’d buy You really can’t go wrong with this setup in my opinion! It makes tube bending very easy!
