is he towing or live in a mud bog? I've read a lot of raptor threads and never seen anyone getting 8mpg.

First gen I can believe, I think they really stepped up the mpg's on their new engines. I thought you were talking 2nd gen, I haven't looked much at 1st gen topics on their forums...at least not mpg ones.

My Dad's 14 6.2L got 11-13mpg consistently. Haven't asked him about the 18 yet, but I think its rated around 17mpg. With turbos and an aluminum body I would hope it gets better than 11-13 mpg, lol.

Couldn't agree more with you on every point. I'm a huge Toyota fanboy, but the Raptor is in a completely different league. I wish I would have bought a house with a bigger garage. A Raptor won't fit in my current garage.

Excited to hear about your ownership experience.

Is it the Gen 1? The 10 speed tranny results in super low RPMs when you're not throttling it. My buddy drove his home gently to break it in and was getting 19 according to the MGP gauge.

Cool truck...one thing I learned though about the Ford 3.5 engines doing my research for a truck is the chain-driven water pump. Not sure how many people know that when it fails, it leaks directly into the oil. Many 3.5 engines have been lost to that. $2000 to change a water pump on those engines because you have to tear down the entire front of the engine. Bad design IMO. That was a no-go for me for a long term vehicle. Cool truck never the less.

Honestly, If I had money to throw around, I would prefer to buy a Raptor over a luxury sedan, touring coupe or sports car.

That's true baller status to me.

If they still had a manual, I would have been looking at ford. Super happy with the Taco, but...always wondered what would have happened if they still offered manual.

    Different wants/needs. I'd buy a E63S wagon.

Cadillacs are the same way. My wife’s boss’s cadi took a dump. Engine full of water. They said it was because the water pump (chain driven) went bad and all the water went into the engine. His was a little more severe I guess costing 7000 to rebuild the engine. New was 15000 and 18000 total put in. Crazy shit right there.

I'm assuming you're talking about a regular F150. I don't believe they ever had a manual option in the Raptor. But even the F150, wasn't it an option on the V6's only?

Congrats. I’m considering the same. By the time I regear, tune, & gauge LT upgrade. It’s becoming more clear. My biggest gripe on 3rd gen Taco is the seating.

Congrats! I wish the Raptor came with a Toyota logo. JK, but kinda not.
