Nice buck man. If you let him go he will be amazing if he gains some mass next year too. Great pics though!

I’ve hunted in IL before. I know what kind of potential they have for sure!

Damn nice! I saw a few amazing bucks in the distance but I always went right at the very beginning of November and honestly I’m not accustomed to the land like you guys have. The farms in IL are sooooo big compared to the East coast. I loved it though. Will be back one day. I was basically throwing in on a lease. I wasn’t using like a guide or anything.

Looks like you are right on the Mississippi river. I cross it everytime I hunt.

The only issue is when you don’t live anywhere near there is where the heck to set up. With the farms being so big it’s hard for an outsider like me to know where to be and get in without scaring everything.

I understand, but if you lease and hunt the same property for 2 or 3 years and with the help of cameras and maybe information from the landowner you should have a general idea.

That’s the problem though. We hunted two years one property one year and a different property the next. Apparently the guy in Illinois we were chipping in with felt this was a much better property. Either way, yeah multiple years would’ve helped get things in line and patterned but it was getting costly so I had to put it off for a while. In the future if I go back hopefully I live closer and can monitor the situation better. Kind of hard from VA to IL if you know how far that can be.

Again I do understand,I’m very fortunate to have what I have. I could not afford to long distance hunt.My buddy has some land neighbors from Maryland and honestly I don’t think I could do it.

Forecast is getting better! Was supposed to be sunny and mid 80s, but it's changed to cloudy/drizzling and mid 70s most of the weekend. Still trying to decide if I am going to get out. Sweating when hunting is not fun for me.

Beautiful! Love to see those leaves painted red.
