Installing brake lines is a good bit of work but definitely worth it! I think these are the most effective brake mod, especially when you consider cost to benefit!

You guys that are going to install these yourself, I HIGHLY recommend you get yourself a set of flare nut wrenches. The stock brake line fittings are pretty soft and you will likely strip at least one if you use an open-ended wrench. I stripped a few using open-ended wrenches on my first truck and my g/f's '08 tC. If you do that, vise grips are your only hope.

Get a pen torch and heat up the brake fitting and then go at it with the flare nut wrench. If it won't go, tap on the wrench with a hammer and loosen it up. Keep the lines on the brackets until you get the fittings loose, then remove the clips to get the lines off the brackets.

Install the master side first, caliper/drum side second. If you install the master side first, fluid will drip into the line and you'll have less bleeding to do.

For the rears, drop the spare tire and jack up the rear of the truck a bit so you can sit up in the spare tire well. Makes working on the master side fittings of the rear line a lot easier!

After you get it together, have someone step on the brakes and check those fittings for leaks under pressure!

I got this craftsman 5pc metric flare nut wrench set. The one you need for the truck is a 10mm.

I apologize in advance. I posted this in an open post with little response and thought it might do better here but don't know how to switch it. What color SS brake lines ? My truck is red. What do you think would be best ? Red, Black or natural SS ? Thanks. Curious George.

I like the natural SS color, but you can never go wrong with black.
