Did you decide on ADD or Manual Hubs?

J-Shift or Pushbutton 4WD?

 

I think I'm going to go with ADD. Is j-shift more reliable than the pushbutton?

 

I’d imagine it’s easier to swap if that means anything

 

I'm going to say yes. J-Shift has less moving parts, and less points of failure.

ADD sucks to wire up, but it's very doable. That's why I did Manual Hubs, I wanted to avoid VSV's, vacuum lines, wiring, 4WD ECU's, etc. entirely. It's literally bolt-on, no fuss with electrical or vacuum systems. Newer Tacomas have the electronic ADD actuator which is electronic, but most trucks have the vacuum actuator which is a pain in the ass to hook up.

 

I have yet to see someone who's down a 4WD swap with a push-button case. Always been J-Shift.

I thought you didn't need a 4wd ECU for add?

 

I believe you do for a Push Button case. ADD just needs a relay and some basic switches.

 

My roommate just brought a flatscreen for the living room, and his brother came to take the wall mount back with him.

I asked why and he said "Oh this TV came from our Monster Truck, we're getting a new TV for it"

They had this goddamn flatscreen TV mounted in the bed of their 1978 International Scout, like this:
