    3rd this
Many years ago the Lawn-Boy 2 strokes were the best -- they don't make these any more - now the Hondas take the top spot PERIOD

I’ve only had three push mowers.

First one was a Toro from the 80’s I used as a kid to mow lawns until I graduated. My parents used it for many years after that.

Had a craftsman, worked pretty good overall for 10 years, and I left it outside year round.

My last one was another Toro. Starts every time with one or two pulls, going on 6 years now. One spark plug swap. Didn’t need it, but just followed the recommended maintenance. This mower should last the rest of my days. I only have a small patch of grass now, and mow the rest of the acreage with a JD.

Same here! only 3, and I am 70.
My two Lawn Boys -- First one bought in 1972 it would still run/cut in 1996 ( sold it for $75 as it was a collector sought after IH (International Harvester) yellow edition. Second one was still in use when I sold it ($100) in 2016. I then got my present Honda (6yr warranty) -- incredible cutting (and bagging) when needed.
This is the truth -- the "boys" server me well.

Can't believe no one likes battery power. They're super light, no fumes, cuts just as good. Less than half an acre is perfect for battery powered mower. I use the Greenworks 60v series from lowes.

Yes sir, at the highest level. Definitely have me beat.

Do you run pump gas with ethanol or non-ethanol?

Chain saws and trimmers are my nemesis. Maybe I’m just expecting to much.
My Husky 550 chainsaw needs another top end rebuild. It has to be the gas due to mixing top end oil (purchased from husky dealer).

    Any advice?

Never tried them. Only experience is one of my old neighbors had one and it burnt up the batteries rather quickly. Pretty sure his mover wasn’t a 60V though.

Just plain ole pump gas --with my other yard stuff as well. In Mo most all pumps have 10% ethanol (by state law -to help the Mo corn growers I suppose)
Chainsaws /blowers/ trimmers --one word of advice -Stihl- usually cost a bit more -but worth it
On the gas thing -- I have had countless numbers of "good-ole boys" advice on not using plain pump gas regular. My comment -if I say anything is that if using that gas is so bad --this equipment would be dying by the thousands everyday everywhere! I would guess the design engineers would take the kind of gas into consideration when they build stuff. I think that regular care/maintenance is waaay more impt. than which gasoline you use.

Funny, I was drooling over their commercial grade, zero-turn Cheetah earlier today. Absolutely no need for it but damn they're nice!

Say what you want but my ex bought me a cheap yard machine from homedepot, it’s got a Briggs and Stratton motor. Been using it for over 8 years. Changed the oil and spark plug once. Fires and runs. Usually prime it and pull and fires on the next round. Was thinking of replacing it soon as the bottom of the chute is rotting away. And the cover broke off. I use a 14” zip tie to hold that one but it break after several uses. Anyway it still runs and does it’s job. I feel like I could get a few more years out of her if I really wanted. Not sure what I’ll get in the future but for the price that was paid for that, it was really worth the money imo

I have a husqvarna 48" rider. Never had one of their push mowers but am happy with the brand.

Still have a 40? year old, Monkey Ward that I got for $20 and have used for over 30 years, rear bagger, Briggs & Stratton engine, mostly retired, call it my rock mower as I only use it in non-lawn areas to cut down weeds. Fired up only a couple times a year. It has gone thru the handle bars and now the throttle assembly that attaches to the handle bar, bummer. Having trouble getting wheels to stay adjusted on it. Hate to get rid of it when the motor still runs well. Best thing I like is the adjustable throttle, usually walk around with it at a fast idle.
Currently using a $20 Sears mower for the lawn, needs carb work, the primer doesn't work, so you have to pour gas in the spark plug hole or remove the air filter. Got it 20 months ago, rear bagger. Previous "lawn" mover cracked the intake manifold, so just tossed the whole thing except parts that would fit the Monkey Ward mower. Had it 20+ years, was gifted to me.

I think any mower will run good as long as one takes care of it. Have a troy bilt mower that my dad got who knows where, it's from the 80's I think. Still runs great, use it when I have to cut weird parts on the lawn that I don't want the Honda to cut.
Prefer a Honda though since most brands have too many cheap plastic internal parts now from what I researched.
Also use Tru-fuel so mower runs smoother and wont gum up the carb since its ethenol free. Just my 2 cents.

Love my Honda. Bought used in 2006 for $225. Used for a decade. Sold for $225 on Craigslist in 2017. It was 18 years old. Bought a new Honda. I've owned and operated many mowers but you get what you pay for. Cheap ones have cheap parts, plastic carburetors, etc.

I recently replaced the carburetor in my much smaller Husky 137 e-series from 2005 and it is working great again. Are you losing compression?

Hondas are good, but from what I have found, parts are much more expensive. I went with a Toro model 20333. It has a Briggs and Stratton engine and a blade clutch that allows you to walk away from the mower to remove branches or kids toys and not have to restart the mower. It also had a hose attachment so you could attach your hose when you were done, fire up the blade, and it would self wash the mowing deck. Great feature for when you mow and the grass is damp and sticks to the deck. It was a great mower, but I only used it for 2 years before I sold my house and sold the mower.
