Groaning here...114,000 miles. I just drive locally, no one takes it off-roading. I was trying to squeeze 2 more yrs out of it, then this issue last week happened. I have to fix it, as I'm in no place to buy anything now. Today, the mechanic said the reverse part of the transmission is bad, but the forward is good. I'm a mom, and just need this truck to get me through another yr. This just sucks. Ok, I have an update. It's the torque converter, not an overhawl. I will pick it up today.

Made my last payment on my 2013, bought new in 2013, last month. I could actually have paid it off at any time earlier, I just was determined to see the payment schedule through to the end...weird, I know.

    Just turned over 17k miles.

I sold a diamond ring for the price of its gold to a guy he then told me he uses it as loan collateral for higher return. I usually sell right to certain gold and coin buyers. That move is in my play book now.

Paid mine off this summer at the 5 years of ownership mark. 2013 with 35K miles. It helps that I live 4 miles from work. All maintenance done by me the right way.
I need a truck, and really see no appeal in getting anything else. I've weighed the costs/options of modding vs buying something else. Really there are no better options than to mod what I have. 3rd gens have really gross snouts, "new gen" problems, and barely get better mpg. Colorado/Ranger/Frontier LOL! Nothing beats a 2nd gen Taco for a midsize truck.
Planning on keeping it for 25 more years or longer at this rate. Going to keep on modding it until I'm happy. It feels like I'm 33% there. In a year or two should be pretty sweet. I'd rather pay for mods than payments, feels way more fun!

How is this even possible? I have a 2013 that I paid off last month, and I’ve got over 88,000 miles on it, and I live less than three miles from where I work. Of course I did help move my son to Colorado....then I helped move him from Colorado back to Texas. And I did drive it to the Grand Canyon last fall. But still..don’t you guys ever do anything fun?

Haha. I'm jealous of the 17k dude, that truck will last forever. My truck has been to California 3 times, Colorado, lake Havasu and Bartlett lake with the potter 15 sailboat 6 times, Grand canyon, Flagstaff 3-4 times, camping all over az. I get out somewhere about every 2 months. Wish it was every 2 weeks.

Been to Colorado more than once or twice. The Tacoma shares duty with a 2004 TJ Rubicon (24k on that one), and I live 3 miles from work.

Just paid off this month -- paid it off in two years. Generally my wife and I live debt free save for our mortgage. We did both take on car loans recently but had plans in place for two year pay-offs for both.

I bought mine brand new off the lot 4 years ago. Paid half in cash and financed the other half. So glad to say it's all paid for now. Feels good to not have that payment being drained out of my account anymore.

Paid cash up front. No loans, no banks, no credit required. Handed the guy a big stack of cash and drove away.

My 2012 has just 26k miles! I've owned it for just under two years; bought it lightly used in March 2017 with just 4k miles on the clock! Retired gent bought it to enjoy outdoors in his retirement, but was too old and 'broken' to enjoy the outdoors, so he traded it back in to the dealer.

I've moved from Oregon to Santa Barbara (TWO trips), then Santa Barbara to the SF Bay Area (and hopefully from SF Bay to...well anywhere but the SF Bay!). Drove from Santa Barbara to La Paz (Baja) and planning on another trip this winter. If not Baja then perhaps Mojave and/or Anza Borengo.
