Thanks for the GB @ramonortiz55 & @UltraGauge, I went with the Wired version do to simplicity, plug it in, set it up, and go, no fidgeting with an app. Also run into issues my phone over heating with a lot of screen time and being on the dash.

We would like to thank all that provided UltraGauge choice feedback

For posterity, we would like to respond to some of the feedback. Sorry for the length

    1. It is not recommended to pair UltraGauge Blue with your primary phone. We all have old phones collecting dust and these are ideal for use with UltraGauge. A recommended installation is to use your previous, now unused, Android phone and perform a OS reset on the device, and then install the latest OS for the device. This ensures that any unnecessary or orphaned Apps are not running and that the device is free of viruses, adware and spyware. The reset device can then be permanently mounted, just like the wired versions, and left in the vehicle. The UltraGauge App will automatically turn the phone on and off with ignition on and off. Since the mobile device is mounted permanently, it is powered by the vehicle continuously, and even a phone with a weak battery can be used.

    2. Regarding, connectivity issues. When Apple released OS version 11.x.x, they killed the ability of many Bluetooth devices to connect. We worked with Apple to resolve the issue, though Apple never acknowledged the issue. Apple released several updates and the connection issues morphed but were still occurring. One day, Apple released an update that resolved the issue. Apple never made any reference to the issue in their release notes. Since then, Apple has released additional updates, and it seems Bluetooth connections are quick and painless now. Android devices have never had any OS related connection issues.

    3. Regarding App crashes. Unfortunately we have no control over the device on which the UltraGauge App is installed. We find that many do not install the latest OS when available. We have seen estimates that some 70% of all smartphones have either viruses, adware, spyware or some combination of all three. Also, most smartphones have various apps running in the background. Many of these Apps are orphaned and the user has no idea they are running. As these various loads add up, they can deplete the smartphone of processing resources, resulting in crashes. This is one of several reasons to use an older reset phone and dedicate it to the vehicle. We have test smartphones that have been running continuously for over two years in the lab, without ever a crash.

    4. Regarding times when the mobile device or App may not be present or running. The UltraGauge Blue adapter operates autonomously to the App. The Adapter collects and stores all data regardless if the mobile device is present. No data is lost. This is unique to UltraGauge

    5. UltraGauge Blue can do everything that the EM Plus and MX can do combined. Blue can also be updated in the field. Updates are free for the life of Blue.

    6. Mobile devices are so powerful and packed with so many features, that they have become the ideal platform of UltraGauge. Consider the display, they are bright, colorful, and most have resolutions in excess of 1080P. This combined with Multicore processors and virtually unlimited memory makes for very rapid display operations. A powerful touch screen GUI means that the user has virtually an unlimited ability to customize the way UltraGauge information is displayed. Gauges can be the older Analog style, a graph, or a digital version. These styles can also be combined. There is also a library of available page layouts which can be downloaded with ease.

Figured wired would be better than dealing with more Bluetooth potential issues.

I plan on pulling a small camper and want to keep an eye on trans temps, with all the other things the mx can monitor, can't believe I didn't get one sooner. I see myself setting up multiple pages of data, because it can.

Thank you UG for letting this happen.

Sounds like blaming the very premise of the product on its user for not having a second phone to pair it with. I had the blue paired to an iPad mini for over a year and over that year the device worked 50% of the time. And if you were not the original purchaser then you couldn’t update the device. Don’t forget that part! I got told to piss off by customer service multiple times.

    OK. So noted.

But you didn't answer my question. How do I add a vehicle on my SmartPhone app?

I went wired because I'm not the only driver of my Tacoma and don't want to bother the other driver's into setting up their phones to connect with the hardware. Plus, I some times drive without my phone - imagine that! If I forget it, I won't have the info available.
