So....I take 3 days of vacation time last week. Everyone who would be effected in any way had specific instructions what to do and what NOT to do. A sub contractor working on a pump (process pump for water source heat pump system) had their best guy on that job. I felt sure everything would be fine.

Walked in Sunday to a hornets nest. The pump being repaired was off line for several weeks. It has a redundant system. (2 pumps...doing one job) The contractor tore down THE WRONG PUMP and turned on the one that had issues. After he left, the bad pump started vibrating so hard it literally shook the building. A wedding going on upstairs complained and now wants 1/2 their fee returned. Pump tech no where to be found. He put parts on his truck and LEFT FOR HIS VACATION. Just now tracked down the parts. The NEW parts to replace the defective pump showed up late yesterday. Took all of 20 minutes to have BOTH back up and running....BUT....I have a meeting with club's manager at 9am. Looks like the refunded fee will come out of MY department budget. $8500..... Irony is, I had the pump that SHOULD have been repaired marked (with laminated sign) as "out of order, do not start" and the disconnect locked out.

Now the best part....Vibrating pump had the room above it shaking on Sunday.....Club election day.....Following elections was the yearly business meeting where all the disgruntled members who are whining about a $5000 per member assessment for repairs and maintenance were in that same room.....and they didn't take it well. Oh well. At least they know why we need more money now.

And....One of my employees, who SHOULD have known better, left 3 hours early Saturday, leaving NO ONE here from maintenance. Gotta have a long talk with him. His only reply so far was "How in the world do you know I left early"? (I looked at the time clock.....duh...)

This job CAN BE so easy. Or it can be so difficult. All depends on the "human factor". Guess their boss is going to be a grump ass all day.

Good morning folks. Headed out in a few to go check roads and see if this was all just a bunch of bs or not. We've been pretty much on the edge of it the whole time so far so never really got much of a direct hit and it's been breaking up the whole time. But it's been raining since around 1600 or so yesterday so we'll see.
