I'd be interested in seeing a 1/2 bed drawer. I saw someone with that kind of set up and it looked interesting to have 1/2 of the bed available for 'truck stuff'.

 

Oh just wait! Want to be an early adopter and test dummy?

That's the kind of system I'd like to go for.

Also, Doozy, do you have any pictures of the system decked out with the sink, stove, and fridge/cooler? If you don't own those items yet, I'm sure you could drop in on one of the many suppliers in the area and ask to temporarily toss in those items to check fit, then snap some pics while you're at it.

Morning Bump and a quick update!

I will be playing around with Sketch Up this week in an attempt to design and show a few options of what I would like to offer. After this is done I will get pricing together and we will try to start this thing up in the next month or two.

With that being said, my current system, V2 is FOR SALE and if anyone wants it please reach out. Pickup only but willing to meet within a reasonable distance!

 

I looked at the avg page. Cool stuff. I really like his ‘one plus’ design.

After looking at this more- I’m interested in a 1/2 side drawer.

You could make these types of systems waterproof by using a good epoxy system. I’ve built boats out of plywood.

Its always better to use marine grade plywood but that adds a lot of cost.

It would be really easy to sell these as CNC kits (a lot boat kits are done like this). You get a couple sheets of plywood that are all cut with are tabs left to remove from the sheet. Then you assemble yourself.

I would like the’cnc kit’ style becaus I would assemble with epoxy and then coat the entire thing in epoxy.

 

Awesome! I actually started researching the epoxy side of things as well. With you having experience in that area, would there be any benefits to coating the system with a fiberglass cloth? Or would you get enough weatherproofing out of just the epoxy?

 

Ahhh epoxy. Using cloth adds weight and a little more complication. But, it makes things STRONG!

Personally I would pass on using cloth. Unless, you dropped to 1/2” ply. Or 1/4” with a ribbing system (create a shell and the sheath with ply). All of this stuff adds too much cost and complication IMHO.

But I would like to glue the joints with epoxy and then seal up the whole shebang.

I really like the idea of marine grade plywood as well. It makes a huge difference in durability. Better glues and less voids.

 

I am talking to a few distributors here in Denver in regards to Marine Grade, no promises it will be standard but I can at least attempt to offer it as an upgrade? A lot to figure out still but I greatly appreciate the input!

 

Good idea on marine grade. Have you considered the CNC route? You could offer a few standard designs easily that way.

 

CNC router is pretty much 100% at this point!

Looks really nice. I run a Decked already which I only paid about $1000 for. I’d say yours looks quite a bit nicer, but I like the sure durability of the Decked... I voted 1000-1500 because that seems reasonable... priced between a Decked System and a Truckvault
