    Talk about digging stuff up.

chill out, it was simply an alternative solution to something similar in some capacity.
Did i push it, did i directly quote pricing or sell it ? NO! dId i even try make a "sale " NO
Your insult is also not warranted bud, there is no similarity to anything Walmart has let alone calling or even comparing it a cheap off the self unit. Did i bash you every time you posted your jazz in threads ? Nope. Go troll elsewhere.

So I'm a rocker, and don't need all the enclosed mumbo-jumbo stuff, I just want to place a board on there to hold my subs, bolt them down, and be happy. Fiberglass is beyond me.. So would a board cut out to specs, bolted down work??
I'm about to trace out the lid, and see what else I have to do... MTX-6000 10's are going in with a Pioneer class-D 1600 amp. I think 400 or 500 rms.... Ideas, comments??

Hard no....a speaker needs an enclosure to work. They don't work just bolted to a board. The amount of airspace needed by a subwoofer is dependent on WHICH subwoofer you decide to use. Every speaker is different.

They can work really well just bolted to a board But that board, or something else, must separate the front and rear waves. Infinite baffle is kick ass when done right. Doesn't sound like that's what Dvst has in mind though :D

I'm with Stylion - you're gonna want to enclose them. Or it will sound like cat poop.

Well, the cover, (sub-plywood) is too tall and these subs just barely have enough room, but they fit. Any options besides fiberglass?? I'll be sealing the best I can, but it isn't like its plug and play. Maybe just lift the seats like someone did earlier in this thread??

Don't get me wrong, I am a bit picky about my sounds; I'm just tickled to death to be at this point. Amp, install kit, subs, and a housing that needs work... Aaarrrrhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, exactly. IB in a Tacoma isn't really possible unless you hang the ass end of the subs out the back kinda like a blow through. I've done a few IB installs in trunk cars and for my friend's home theater. Very cool setups.
I used to have a template that I could use to make more tops. I've moved since then and I think I remember throwing it out. If I had it I'd say yeah I could probably make another one but starting from scratch would be awful. :(

What kind of clearance do you have above the sub and under the seat when down? i know the 2 10s i have behind my seats have a max excursion of 3 inches so i assume i would hit the seat most of the time it was running if i put them under the seats. also what did you uses on the material? is it abs or pvc or something else??

3" one way? Never heard of any sub with 3 inches of travel one way...err even 2 for that matter. WFT are they?

Aah, OK, makes more sense. Those are 2-way mechanical limits. Useful one-way (the way xmax is usually expressed) x-max on those is 26mm (just over an inch), but that's pretty damn respectable.

i may be confused by what your saying but xmax is one way voice coil displacement not 2-way limits?

Yeah, generally x-max is expressed as a 1-way electrical figure...not as a 2-way mechanical limit. The mechanical limit is where the suspension just can't move anymore. X-max is generally considered the limit of linear electrical excursion - that is how far the coil can move the cone before things start to lose alignment and/or flux.

Yes, XMAX by definition SHOULD be 1 way travel but many companies often cheat and misrepresent the measurement.

And to solve that issue for the rear seats I think many people have moved the latch or something and it helped provide more space back there. I've not messed with it though since I never had a need.

I also wanted to note that you'll have a VERY hard time fitting a 10" sub under the seats. The bin area is such that an 8 is tight but a 10 will be larger than the opening itself. While it's possible to have the sub sit on TOP of the bin area, that will lead to clearance issues with the seat bottoms.

i've installed them behind the seat many years ago with moving the latch forward and removing the back plastic covers from the back of the seats. I don't hit at all with the current setup. was mainly looking at your option 3 on the first page i thought those may have been 10s...
