Howdy...new to this site/forum...I have a 2001 Toyota Tacoma 4x...I first noticed a "ticking" sound while driving, which got louder/worse. Had Autozone run an error code check, they said P0300, random cylinder misfire condition. Got the truck home, noticed #3 spark plug was melted, as was most of the rubber boot. There was no loss of power, no rough start. So far, I have replaced all wiring, all spark plugs, and #3 injector. I also ran a meter on all injectors. They all show about 13-14 ohms. Anyone else had this issue ? Thanks ?

Excessive cylinder heat is typically caused by running too lean, or the ignition timing is set too early. Keep running it with either of those conditions and you risk a hole in the piston. Have a mechanic check the injector pressure, and the timing. But if it's just one cylinder, my $$'s on a bad injector.

Engine ping, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engine_knocking I was getting engine ping with my 99 Prerunner when the mass airflow sensor went bad, replaced that and all was good again but if it's just one cylinder ...don't know, would go with what's already said.

Hopefully the line isn't full of trash or something, then. Fingers crossed that it's just a timing issue.
