Moto Metals on unlifted Tacoma

Let me first say that I've searched for 3 days and have read several threads regarding Moto Metal rims. I am looking at picking up a set of 955s for my 09 Double Cab prerunner (TRD OR). I have read that some folks have installed these rims (or the 951s) with 265/75-16 rubber and have had rubbing issues. I took the mud flaps off my truck months ago, but I'm not looking to lift my truck and would rather not trim in the fender well area. My question is... if I stay with the stock tire size (265/70-16) or possibly go with the narrower tires (245/75-16) will I still have to deal with rubbing?

-4.501 backspacing
-0mm offset
-106 hub bore
-16x8, 6 on 5.5/bolt pattern

Any input is much appreciated

 

Thats perfect size, and you will not have any rubbing issues, you will have no problems with that setup

I get the impression that the Moto Metals (referred to in my original post) stick out slightly more than the current TRD OR rims. Is that correct? If so, does that determine which tire size will allow me to avoid lifting and trimming?

You can run 265/75/16s with no rubbing issues...I did it with stock wheels and no lift

 

Yes, the rims will stick out about an inch more, and none of those tire sizes would have a problem, I would go 265/75/16 the biggest will look better IMO. Lifting and trimming will not be necessicary

Just to throw a wrench in the works. I also have heard that the 16x8 Metal Moto 951s will rub on the front caliper, and that the Metal Moto 951s in 16x9 will rub slightly when the wheels are fully turned.
Neither of these sound like great options to me, but I'm considering the 16x9s anyway, because I really like these wheels and how often really do you turn the wheels to the max anyway, right?
I also do not plan to lift my truck.

There must be some more 951 owners on here willing to verify either way, because there are plenty of 951 pics on here.

Any idea if the tire will make contact with the mudflap and potentially tear it off?

I've been told by a guy at my local Toyota dealership that running a 265/75/16 can tear the mudflap off, while going in reverse. I assume he means while turning. Any idea if there is anything to this?

Also, did any of you Moto Metal owners have any issues installing the pressure sensors on them?

Do they need to be hub centric?

true the moto metal 951's rub slightly on the mud flaps and front plastics. im gonna take flaps off and trim a bit.

Yep, sure enough, they rubbed my mud flaps, too. Trimming did the trick.

The motos aren't hub centric, and I have no issues so far. I ordered spline lugs nuts with mine, and from what I understand the spline lugs support the wheel instead of the hub bore, so it centres the wheel that way.

 

I have heard that the 16x8 will hit the caliper. I am looking for a set but having a hard time finding them.

My question is; would dropping from a 17" rim to a 16" still fit on my 2013 DC?

I see on some forum threads that the brake callipers may rub?

I'm specifically looking at the KMC 122 Enduros with a 265/65/16 tire.
