Most places have their good sides and bad sides to living. Lots of people take great care of their vehicles, but plenty more dont. Missing taillights, brakes that are metal on metal, bald tires, etc. They are road hazards and this forces them to fix the issues. Unless they go to a shady place and pay extra to get passed.

I just pay the 15 bucks VA charges yearly and get it done while maintenance is being done. I have my appointment on Friday actually to get mine done.

Vehicle inspections have nothing to do with public safety, that's a line of crap the politicians use to sell it to the sheeple. Inspections stations exist for one reason and that's to generate revenue for the state.

Virginia only has it every two years...

    You're lucky!

Also, Virginia charges property tax on vehicles!

I agree with @TacoCat, every state has pros and cons, pick your poison. I think Pa. definitely has its issues but issues that would not force me to relocate.
New Jersey is worse than a communist state with their gun laws. Delaware... well it’s Delaware, enough said.
    I’m content in Pa.

    @BartMaster1234

Keep in mind that I live in a state notorious for its extreme winter weather and use of road salt, and drive a truck with a long history of frame rot...

I guess it's bragging rights that my truck has never failed an inspection?

I would also like to point out that my truck did not require a frame replacement, probably because I was so diligent about pressure-washing the frame in the winter!

As evidenced by the fact that Utah got rid of the safety inspection requirement, as they found it would save the state a boatload of money.

You can buy "beer" any day of the week; Just not the "high point" good stuff, as well as liquor or wine.

You can buy all the Bud Light piss water you want though 24/7...

If you are so sick of it, then leave the state. I'm sure other states don't require it. I for one think it should be mandatory since there alot of idiots that don't know the first thing about cars.

Why? What does it do to improve safety?
What does it do to save the tax payers as much as its increasing the cost of owning a vehicle in PA?

    These are genuine questions.

It's better than it used to be, but all hard liquors and most wines must be purchased in state-run stores, staffed by unionized douchebags who often don't know shit about wine and spirits and only care about their union benefits.

Beer, until recently, had to be purchased by the case (12, 18, and 24 packs) at licensed beer distributors, and 6-packs could purchased at bars and takeout restaurants for jacked-up prices.

Now, PA has allowed grocerie stores to start selling beer and wine. However, they have to have special licenses and the beer section is separate from the rest of the store. Beer and wine purchases must be made here, and food cannot be purchased here.

At this point, the state seems open to joining the 21st century, but the beer distributors don't want to compete with grocery stores and gas stations. They have powerful people in their pockets and the going has been slow as a result...

As a result of the influence from the beer distributors and their lobbyists, the grocery stores have been forced to enact stupid and downright obnoxious rules, the sole purpose which seems to be making purchasing beer and wine at grocery stores as big of a pain in the ass as possible.

Examples of the aforementioned rules include that you can only purchase two 6-packs or one 12-pack per person/transaction. A loophole allows you to bring the first purchase(s) out to your vehicle and then come back for more, but who wants to do that?

And then there's the ID policy at grocery stores. They card EVERYBODY, even senior citizens, and regular customers who they know to be 21 or older! They also card the people who come back for more beer after taking their first purchases outside, even though they were just in there moments ago and are known to be of age!
