Tried mine in the woods and had the exact same reaction. Thought I gernaded the entire drive train. Was sweating like a whore in church the whole way home. Then found out it was normal:anonymous:.

I had this happen today as well. I believe it was when I was switching out of 4lo back to 4hi, I heard an awful grinding noise. I also smelled a mechanical/burn plastic smell for a little while as well. I was chalking this up to it being the first time I engaged the truck in 4 wheel drive...Anyone else get this smell? I hope I didnt do anything wrong...

If you are using crawl control, do you need to shut it off before you switch back to 4hi? Or will the truck disengage it automatically?

That "Grinding" is perfectly Normal and Yes it Sound down right disturbing only use it went in situation that calls for it and Keep your foot OFF the Gas Pedal let it drive you just steer. (the Noise is the ABS braking system) and if you push the gas pedal it sound worst

Good to hear the grinding noise is normal.

After further research, the burning smell was probably from the break pads. This would make sense because I only smelled it on my descent went I was mostly riding the brakes. My truck is only 3 weeks old

I had a buddy where I worked that bought a T4R with CC and I told him about the racket it makes when you use it. He said his wife was with him the first time they turned it on and she freaked out. He was very glad I warned him before or they would have gone straight to the service dept.

I tried it out for the first time this weekend. I had read about the grinding before, so it didn't bother me at all. I was impressed with how it worked though. Steep climb, uneven surface, I couldn't hear and tire slip whatsoever. The truck before me spun out several times on the way up.
