I reload or I wouldn't be shooting either of them either. Surprisingly comes out pretty close to other rounds cost wise

 

I know a guy that will have a lathe up and running pretty soon.

40mm is expensive to feed. Which is why I sold my LMT M203 a few years ago. $10/rd for M781 seconds was stupid.

458SOCOM is up there, but options exist for non-reloaders in the sub $2/round realm. Yes, that is expensive, but it is a specialty round.

I used my 458SOCOM SBR as my Elk rifle a few years ago. Saw no Elk, so I can't say anything about the effectiveness of it. But carrying a short, light rifle in the woods was sure nice....

Ive never shot suppressed, but i thought anything bigger the .22 was still too loud to shoot with no ears

You get the sonic boom, but not the report. It's still on the edge, but that's a lot better than way over the edge. Depending on the round and can, your ears might not ring at all, which is kinda a big deal.

 

I'm absolutely entitled to not having my ears fucked up.

 

If you're so worried about your ears, then just use a bow.

Really depends. You can shoot subsonic stuff and have it being "hearing safe". Anything is better than nothing though. I rarely even shoot without earplugs at a minimum even with a suppressor on. No reason to expose yourself willingly to impact sounds >80db more than needed. If I remember right anything over 140db is what OSHA considers unsafe for impact noise and a lot of suppressors can reduce noise down to <135db. But also have to be mindful of how the suppressor rating was obtained. There are two methods...one uses a meter at the shooters ear. The other is like a meter at the muzzle

 

But kdss will shit out and cost a bunch of money later.

 

I recently watched some YouTube video on spear hunting... That shit is fucking effective if you can get an animal under 5 yards.

 

I saw a video of a dude killing a bear with a spear, and the world lost their minds. That's some real badass caveman shit right there.
