OP you are in Utah so we know you see snow, though depends where in UT??? Past two winters we got porked with winter storms here in New England, my Mickey Thompson Baja's were unreal, so good...the BFGoodrich Rugged Terrain T/A's before that sucked as they did on wet roads and ice. Typically NEW tires do well in snow, when old not so much unless they were designed for it. I like the Off-Road rims and intend to keep them, selling just the tires for say $200 is not enough for me, later I'll be BEEFING up the tires and happy.

How many months left on the GY's?. You don't want the KM2's dry rotting in the hot garage

I have 58k on my stock firestone le2s. I prefer to run tires to their posted "mileage warranty" then change them. Just checked 32nds on them yesterday, still 5/32nds but they are cracking between the tread pretty badly. Gonna pull them at 60k.

Having said that, there is not a performance junkie out there who wouldnt agree that the easiest and best performance upgrade you can do is better tires. If stockers arent getting it done, then I would recommend upgrading.

If that is your concern, you should get a set of dedicated winter tires which BTW, should not be driven consistently in temps over 45 F.

I ran mine to 40K before changing them. I only drove them in the snow and ice like 4 times though. I could not bear wasting the asset. If you think you will end up being obsessive about performance, switch them. Easy for me to say, it's not my money.

Modding a truck is fun! Removing nearly new stock parts and selling them at half price makes little sense to me. Wear them down, same with the stock suspension then upgrade them.

I hope they make General Grabber ATx in the stock size soon.

25k seems to be about the average life span for the stocks.

I got stuck in snow like the second week I had my truck. Still had my old taco with the Cooper STT Pros on it. Tugged the new taco out without even trying.

I got the pro rims and Cooper's for the winter, and run the stock tires in the summer. Cause I mostly do fire access roads for camping and offroading. Don't need the Cooper's for that, and the stock tires perform better on the highway.

Salt Lake area - the canyon roads here on snow days can be very nasty, conditions can change quickly, depending on temperature and altitude. I've seen plenty AWD and 4X4's slide into gutters on pow days.

I like the easy tire comparison Summit Racing Equipment uses, below is a link of some 265/75R16's as an example for you & OEM 265/70R16 either would present no issues size wise.

Sell stock for $ and get something A/T proven in snow. Because Utah. Cooper at3 4/S. I always liked geolanders in snow. Stay away from mud terrain and e rated as they suck on ice/wet pavement. Or go in for a dedicated winter tire/wheel combo you switch out seasons.

Awesome thanks! I'm looking at a set of Wildpeak AT3 or KO2's, in 265/75R16, and I'll dump the stock tires.

Yes, a half inch from the axle will not present any problem for a truck unless it was like a Corvette or ZL1 where everything is a very tight.

This is actually very kool that someone posted on here....

I am about 200 miles in and I am replacing the stock tires with 265/75R16 KO2s this week. Have had good luck with KO2s in the past and prefer the piece of mind while off roading vs stock highway tires.

Are you going to get a fifth for a spare since you're going up to a 265/75R16 size?

No, I’m not too worried about it. Would only use the spare to get me home and nothing else. I would never rotate the spare into a normal rotation anyways since the spare wheel is different than the ground wheels.

I have 24K miles on my stock Wranglers (2017 Off Road), in 18 months of owning the truck. So far, 95% of my driving is pavement, no added weight or towing. I haven't measured the remaining tread depth, but I would estimate I am around 50 - 60% remaining. I plan to run them until they are worn out, then replace with a different tire. I actually like the stock Off Road wheels, so I will keep them for a while.

I will be keeping these stock tires & TRD O/R wheels until i've run them in the ground, based on where i live and environment these work plain & simple. I can put that $$$ into other upgrades but eventually i'll be running TRD PRO Tacoma (replica) wheels 17x8 on Toyo R/T 285/70/17 i am hoping the vendor on eBay will have these available in 17x9's again, that 1" width will balloon that 285/70/17 about another 1/2" width, now to lurk eBay like a rabid-wolf waiting when it is back in production or better yet FN wheels will come out with their version of the Tacoma TRD Pro wheels like they did the 4Runner TRD PRO wheels which were hugely popular.
