I'd love to come across one of those books. Automatic transmissions are black magic to me.

You ever see how those hydraulic ball bearing thingies work? I don't know the technical term. It's basically a mechanical computer.

I have the factory service manual for the a340 transmission

 

Kinda makes sense its old, it's up to 2003, but that covers our trucks and those that came before it as well as cars. Pretty damn good for cheap

 

You know how much shit I got for spending time and money to restore that welder?

I still get shit about it considering I've used it for a grand total of five minutes.

But damn, do those OEM Miller decals look good.

The current tank of C25 I have I traded in at AirGas has a datecode of 1950 stamped on it IIRC.

Honestly buying one of those part trucks isn't worth it, I looked into it. Winning bid, auction fees, broker fees, shipping, and taxes comes out to about $3,000-$4,000 average. To make it worth it, you'd have to part it out. Even then it'll take forever.

Look for wrecked trucks on Craigslist sold by a private party. Much cheaper and easier.

Best pic I got. I assume 1954 is the manufacture date code. It looks like it’s from 1954.

 

I assume 1954 is the date code because the '19' is obviously stamped by machine. the '54' looks like it's stamped by hand. Was very common to have things like checks and paperwork already printed with '19' and you write in the year.

 

Just found safety dangs swap on TTORA, I kinda wanna put a manual... but automatic would just be easier and more affordable. I've only driven manual once and it was in an old jeep.
