Sup fools! Been away for awhile. Was just catching up on the recent stuff. Other great thing about a rooftop tent is you’re up high. Peace of mind for the critters and bears lol. Did 45 miles on the AT hiking with buddies and we slept in hammocks. Better than a tent on the ground but felt like a bear burrito. Lol

 

Had a bear come through camp last AT trip. I was in my hammock out like a light, of course. Dudes in the shelter were all trying to decide how they were going to defend themselves. Said they thought my snoring was what probably kept him away from me. I never saw him. He didnt hurt anything, that's why you dont sleep with your food up there

I have a free tent and 500 worth of gear and my family always had a blast.

 

Sleeping on the ground is for suckers. We sleep in the camper shell.

The tent is for our stuff.


Wow. Who knew one sarcastic overlander crack would wake the thread up and bring the lurkers out of the woodwork.

 

Update on my skid plate.

I contacted the vendor and he responded and told me to check the inside of the skid for a missing weld. Which I did, and it was missing. I sent him a picture and he immediately responded he would ship me a replacement tomorrow.

 

I'm no bear expert (bearxpert?), but I'm pretty sure a bear could easily climb into RTT if it wanted. That being said, if I had the money, I'd definitely take the comfort of a RTT just because I'm tired of crawling around on the ground (not that anyone asked my opinion)..

 

So are you gonna give the vendor a recommendation??

Also when you get the trilogy sell the aluminums and go steel

I think the vendor is Mobtown though, am I right??

 

I’m torn about this.

I work in manufacturing and I understand how difficult quality is to maintain. Also, the company has been A+ with owning up to the issues and fixing them; integrity is a rare trait.

On the other hand I don’t think I would recommend them due to the length of time I waited and the issues I’ve had.

For now I think I’m going to decline to identify them. At least publicly.

 

Not CBI is it? I’m getting one of their bumpers later this year

 

Oh I’m sure he’d have no problem getting in the RTT but don’t mind making it harder for him than an easy snack to be had lol
