Any odd gen is the general rule. 1, 3, and 5. How much monies you want to spend and what do you want to do with it? I think a good value is the 3rd gen. I picked up my beater for 1500 and put 700-800 into it to make it driveable. Including wheels/tires. Not the prettiest and could use a little more TLC. I have another 800ish that is going into it to give it 35s and a doubler for the transfer case.

Super low miles on this and looks clean. Needs some AC work, but would be worth it in my opinion.

If dealership, avoid Vegas. I bought my last three cars in AZ and only one of them was while I was living here. Vegas dealerships are expensive.

Found a used TRD Sport premium tech with 18k miles. Probably can get it for 32k. However it’s 2wd but since I won’t owe anything on it I’ll be able to save for a dedicated off roading rig rather than a daily I’ll be worried about lol

Ok I am well versed on track car coil over suspension, I would just dial in the valving and tire pressure based on the individual track conditions.

So I have a question on “off road” shock with adjusters: does this work the same way, you dial in the valves based on the off road conditions or is it based more on the weight of each corner or both?

e.g. - dail in for camping weight (heavy) vs. weekend off roading (light) ?

Just trying to understand if the adjusters are worth it for my particular needs. Granted I am 12m out from being able to upgrade suspension, but I am doing my homework now.

A little bit of both. It allows for quick adjustments based on what you need. If you are dailying with minimal weight you can keep the compression light, but then crank it up a little if you are going to hit dirt or a lot of you are fully weighted with gear for camping, or all the way up when you want to show off and send it. Just need to make sure the base valving is correct to start. I know for my front coilovers, I've been slowly cranking in the adjuster as I got faster and faster off road and now I'm maxed out and feel I need more. So at some point I'll have to get in and change valving to make the adjuster useful again

    Edit:
If the weight of your vehicle is going to drastically change at times, or your driving style off road is going to change drastically from time to time, they are a nice thing to have and be able to easily adjust.

Do you get to select the base valve setting?

Just curious if I decided to not get the adjuster how much of a issue would it be. I can always get the adjuster when I get them rebuilt, I think.

Depending on where you order them from you should be able to. I also know the base valving is usually lighter which the compression adjusters since there is essentially two valving stacks working the compression now. Filthy motorsports has a good video either on their site or YouTube that explains it all very well.
