Picked up my truck from the dealer this morning. Very noticeable difference already in the 20 mile drive to work.

My service manager didn't seem to know about the TSB but the guy next to him did, he was listening to me explain the issue and was like, "Tacoma? Yeap, you're like the 5th one today who came in for that". No test drives. No charge.

Thumbs up to Capitol Toyota in San Jose!

Let me ask all a question. My dealer told me they can’t replicate the issue and can’t do the update since it drives fine to them. If I buy a obd2 to usb cable. Can I apply the update my self via laptop?

Call Toyota customer service and complain, squeaky wheel usually gets the grease, good luck

Had TSB 0062 completed few days ago. Very impressed with the improvement in engine/transmission drivability so far. Unfortunately I am seeing a reduction in fuel economy. Anywhere from 2-4 mpg on my normal routes. Hopefully this improves over the next few days. Honestly I am just pleased with the way the transmission shifts & the throttle response even if the mpg's don't improve.

I haven't paid real close attention at the numbers since doing the update but it appears to me that my gains in MPG are mostly in the highway and rural roads. In the city I think my MPGs have decreased some from before. I still prefer this over its old lackluster throttle behaviour.

My best mpg would be a mix of city/hwy & was getting around 20-22. After update I am getting around mid 18's. No change in hwy mpg's which is usually 17/18. I will take the improved drivability but disappointed so far with the big drop in mpg.

So I guess the deciding factor is if you want to deal with lower mpg or better drivability.

It varies between drivers and driving style. For me personally, I've had a noticeable improvement in drivability, performance and fuel economy. This update has been an excellent improvement for my 2018.

Not exactly as many people have noticed improved fuel economy as well as drivability. I am guessing over the next few tanks of fuel my mpg's will improve at the new software adapts. Just wanted to give a initial update after the TSB was completed. It is a big improvement in overall drivability.

I received the update on 04 August. You can clearly see how my truck has responded to the update over the last few tanks of fuel. These results are using the same gas from the exact same gas station and driving the exact same route everyday. The only change was the update.

My fuel economy creeps up this time of year, but I believe it is because of reduced air conditioner use.

I wouldn't know if my truck stumbles at WOT, as it has only seen WOT a few times since new.

Just had mine done today and wow. It honestly feels like a different truck. No more confused shifting and dead pedal feelings like many have mentioned. I know the system is going to take some time to relearn my driving habits but as of right now I'm very happy with the update. Love the truck and the only thing bothering me was this issue. This tsb looks like it has resolved it for now. We will see how it goes. So far so good. Highly encourage other experiencing the same issue to go out and get it done.

I have had the stumble issue twice now which is twice to much. Both while pulling out into flowing traffic, hit the gas to speed up and no speed up. I have a 18 bought in January 18. I took it to the local Toyota dealer I bought it from and asked them to download this new update. The dealership would not do it. They are stating its only a high altitude fix. They acknowledged the stumble problem stating it is because the truck sometimes stays in 4th gear when coming to a stop so when taking off again its out of gear causing the stumble issue. Their solution is to drive in manual . The service manager even went as far to say the 3rd gen Tacomas were designed to be driven in manual around town, BS. Very annoying.

i have the ovtune and it's been awesome ....for piece of mind i am going to get the TSB installed and then reflash the tune .When I called the dealer ,they said there is no recall on your truck ...what ? They are so clueless . When I go in tomorrow i'm going to say I drive cross country and really talk it up . They installed the first tsb so it shouldn't be a problem . So I have to say my truck now has the stock tune and it's really lame . Shifts really quick through the gears ...almost embarrassing . I still miss my 2012 Ram ....I would go to another dealer .

After putting almost 8000 miles on my TRD Sport and having the recent TSB done, I also sort of miss my 2012 Ram. My wife's 2015 TRD Off Road is much better shifting than my Sport. Even though I like my Sport, I may trade it as soon as the 3 year 36000 mile warranty is up....just because of the erratic performance of the 3.5 liter engine and 6 sped transmission.

Dealer was correct as its not a RECALL!!! It is a Technical Service Bulletin.

Todays mpg much improved when doing straight hwy. Usually get 18 at best & after TSB I am getting 21 last two trips when driving hwy/interstate. Huge improvement with holding 6th gear as well.
