I don't use these 3rd party apps, but did anyone else see this email? if you use pandora, it sounds like a good reason to not update the entune app.

    "
    Dear Toyota Owner,

Thank you for being a Toyota Entune™ App Suite customer.

As technology and markets change, third-party application providers continuously evolve their products and services. On November 13th, 2018, a multimedia system update will appear on your vehicle display. After completion, Pandora®, OpenTable®, and Facebook Places will no longer be available in Entune™ App Suite, as these products and services will no longer be supported by the third-party application providers.

In your Toyota, you can still enjoy Pandora and other popular music applications via Bluetooth or USB connection. For your device's compatibility and pairing instruction, please visit Toyota.com/entune."

They will update the app over the airways... you won't have a choice. Entune to me, is weak set of apps that don't add much value-IMO

i've never used any of the built-in entune apps anyway. i use google music for music. i clicked around in a few of the apps and they are just clunky to use. i'd rather use my phone for everything.

Assuming this deal finalizes it is going to be interesting to see what happens. It sounds like they plan to have an ad supported line up for SiriusXM head units for the people who don't want to pay $15 a month. That sounds better to me than banging your cell phone bandwidth every time you take a drive.

    A few minor things...
I think their apps are supported by an outside service and their contract is up/not being renewed. This means service will shut off regardless of update.

It's not offered here, but I would love it if there was any satellite coverage in Alaska. If I don't download my music or bring a CD I will find myself out of data and most likely cell service range within an hour. It's a real first world problem, but with half-day drives it would be nice to have options.

google will let you store albums offline or entire playlists. just add a bunch of music to a playlist and let it download while you're at home.

I listen to, for example, Power Play in my truck or streaming at home. I didn't know that was available free online. I know Game Center is available and individual team radio broadcasts are online.

After my (3) free months of new vehicle Sirius was expired, I passed on moving to a paid plan. About 2 months later Sirius offered me a full 12 months for only $60 annually. That's only $5 a month. I grabbed it and for that price have no issues. In the Boston area my life is sitting in traffic and I'm pretty much "music'd out" on Pandora. I have access to a couple of other streaming music sites but Sirius gives dozens of TV news channels and talk stations that I can't get on any music service. So Im happy with the variety.

The only regret I see is the extra money I spent for that premium head-unit. There were only about a dozen fairly useless apps (Facebook really??) and now they're dropping off one by one. Plus you can't change the nav while driving like Google Maps. I plan to replace it with a nicer Android unit if I can ever get my engine stuttering problem resolved.

Agreed. I've always said it's a greatest hit list of apps nobody wants. You'd think the people who developed it didn't have smart phones.

No sports radio stations on google music at all. But it has every major sports podcast out there. Podcasts are where it's at if you like talk radio.

Maybe they can make it so that the HU doesn't reset every other fucking phone call instead of bullshitting with these apps on a shitty system
