Learning by doing is the way to go for sure. Definitely some bumps along the way for everybody. Like the time...

I put a dual case coupler on backwards and broke an ear off the trans tailhousing trying to fit a 26 spline peg in a 23 spline hole.

Had the top two bolts loosen up after a few years on the bellhousing and lunched a clutch disk and TOB...but didn’t recognize the damaged parts until I had the trans in and out twice in a day.

Or that time I forgot to fully tighten the cam gear after freshening up the head and the gear fell off as I was pulling out of the garage for the first time and broke the timing chain. Necessitating me to pull the head again to get the timing cover off and put a new chain/guides in.

    ...:anonymous:

Glad you were able to get it all sorted out man. There’s nothing worse than having your daily apart like that and needing it for work the next day!

Clutch is doing great! Actually holds 5th gear very well at 70-75mph on I64, uphill! I know this won't last forever and I'll have to use 4th gear to keep my speed up, but I'm enjoying driving my truck again. It was definitely a worthy upgrade, completely worth the money. Can't wait to get it off road and see how it performs. Likely break something now that it actually grabs lol.

After my self-alignment, it's still not right. Need to reset my VSC. Tried to take me off the road yesterday hitting some water puddles at about 45 mph. Scary in that situation, not nearly as butt-puckering when the roads are dry. Also, have a popping CV on passenger side when going from forward to reverse gears. Toe still needs dialed in better as well.

Work in progress! I won't quit til everything is back where it should be and then it's back to upgrades and other smalls.

:fingerscrossed: Might be joining the "old man" club. Finally found a good deal for an ARE Utility topper!

Provided this thing isn't complete shit when I get there, I'm buying it. Sore peter price. I'm talking 10% or less of new cost.

That said, I need a leaf pack. Needed one before topper.
Do I run the Medium or Heavy Dakar? Should I look at someone else's leaf packs?

Local spring shop was no help in this when I talked to them a while back.

    Yeah. $700. YEESH!

Also, very much unknown about them. Dakars may squeak, but there's enough people running them that aren't totally unknown.

That's true..Whats your price range 250-350 ish? I guess you could always get a turd gen stock leaf pack and do AAL.It would be cheap and beneficial for the time until you can do a 63 swap lol

Nah. More. Dakars are $500ish. I'm cool with saving $200 and hearing a squeak once in a while.

$250-300 isn't gonna get much in the way of leaf packs.
