Price to get car clay bar and waxed

Does anyone have an idea how much it would be to have my Tacoma clay barred and wax? Or just clay barred? or just be waxed? I have a cover on my truck and always ends up with dark surface rubs around corners and edges. I'm looking to get a new place where I can keep it inside the garage but until then the cover as to do. I just wanted to get an idea how much it would cost to do such a thing. Thanks.

 

well are you going to do it yourself, or have someone else do it?

It will vary with each place. I have seen prices from 60-150. Call around maybe?

 

probably have a professional do it. The last time I tried waxing my car i messed it up. if you have an idea for the pricing for doing it yourself and having a professional do it would be some good info to hear. Thanks.

I would assume $100 to $175 depending on the place.

I do my own and the products needed would cost $30 and the 3 hours to do it (and they will last you 3 or 4 times). It helps when you have a random orbital to apply the wax.

 

spend $20 on a claybar kit and $20 on wax supplies, then do it yourself. other places will just rip you off. Its not hard at all. Takes an hour max.

 

When i got my truck it had some dog paw scratches on the left rear door, i took my 6" polisher and some "scratch out" in a yellow bottle by Kit wax and was very surprised at the results, so much so, i am going to do the entire truck in Mirror Glaze with the 6" polisher.

If you want to remove the scratches, you will need to do a polish, and then a wax after that.

 

Where are you located? I'll show you how to do it no charge with CSI products. 1.5 hours TOPS to do the whole vehicle (as long as it has been washed already).

 

There is a hand car wash close to me where my mom told me they quoted her $100 to wash/clay/bar, but she drives a silverado.

 

Forget wax entirely, try a car polish instead. It's too easy to do it yourself.

There is no way you're going to get all that done in an hour. Just to prepare a dirty truck for waxing is going to take a good bit of time.
Plus your talkin claying it, yeah, thats going to be your quickest task but then we're talkin wax on, wax off. BS that you can do all that in under an hour. If so, you need to open up your own shop and run cars and trucks in and out. $50 a car you could roll out $400 in a day.

Just washed and waxed mine Friday again. Took me every bit of 3 hours but I'm a neat freak too. All elbow grease.

 

Expect to pay around 150.00 for a wash/clay/wax. Head over to Autopia and hit up the regional section. Lots of local detailers that w/ plenty of experience looking for side work.

Zaino has to be one of the biggest pain in the asses to use. Its not user friendly and has too many steps. It can look good, but way too much work imo.
And fwiw, I'd clasify a polish as a mild abrasive or chemical cleaner that has the ability to cleanse or remove mild oxidation, hazing and surface swirls.

 

No doubt. To clay, polish, and wax my vehicle, it takes me 5 to 6 hours.

 

If you use a wipe on, wipe off spray wax, waxing can be done easily in under 30 minutes. I know, because I wax my truck every week (typically Thursday nights after dinner) and I certainly wouldn't if it took several hours each time.

If you're using a paste wax, doing circles and trying to get stained trim clean and crust out of the nooks and crannies, it's going to be much longer. But there are several waxes out there that let you do it SO much quicker and easier. CSi Q-7 Wax is just one of them. Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax is another good product.

Buy some Q-7 and try it for yourself...we'll buy it back if you don't like it.

Polishing adds a LOT of time to the project. But the claying and waxing is a snap.

 

Saw a carwash today wanted $75 to clay bar and wax.

 

Now that's good customer service from a vendor. OP, I would take them up on their offer. Not only will your truck look great, but you'll also learn proper technique.
