Not really. I think you will have no problem with it. This truck was really easy!

Couple of updates... It's been a while.

    Audio Install
Moving to an Audible Physics AR3A dedicated Mid Range and a Scanspeak R3004 tweeter in aluminum Pods.

    Suspension
I am currently working with a company to produce a complete line of suspension for Tacomas. The founder is an off-road racing champion who enjoys overlanding and wants to provide everyone an affordable opportunity to experience overlanding/offroading at a lower cost. - I will provide more info about who the company is at a later time, but for now, here are the details....
    • 3.0 Front Coil-overs with Finned remote reservoir
    • 3.0 Rear External bypass shocks with finned remote reservoir
    • Rear shock relocation
    • Rear Shackles and hangers
    • Front and Rear hydro bumpstops
    • Custom Long travel rear spring packs capable of cycling 20" travel.
    • Front and Rear sway bar with billet front steering tierods

Here is a recent pic of the truck as it sits today.

    A couple updates:

Next week on Friday, Icon Stage 9 is going on.
I ended up getting the set used and will use these until the other suspension system is developed, but for now, or even if it never gets developed, I have a really great setup.
    I am excited!
I decided to get the following items to add to the standard stage 9 setup:

The following Tuesday, a couple more changes are happing as well.
These couple of things are going to make a big difference and get me closer to my end goal.
I will be posting some instructions and a review on the Alpine unit and the audio setup.

    Have a great weekend

Lots of changes I will need to write up, but for now, here are some recent trip pics.
I went from Vegas to Telluride and did Imogene Pass on Saturday, Black Bear pass on Sunday, and Sedona Broken Arrow trail on Monday.
I got a trans temp warning during Black Bear Pass, which sucked because I was worried about the truck the rest of the way.

What size are those? I just want some 3.5’s in the dash without too much surgery

    3.5 is too large.
What are you trying to do?

I have a set of JL audio C2 components that I used in my van, but was never really happy with them. I made some tweeter brackets and mounted the tweeters in the dash, and the woofers in the doors. They are way too far apart for a nice soundstage. My plan was to put the components in the rear doors of the Tacoma, some 6x9 coax in the front doors, and some 3 1/2” with bass blockers in the dash. But the dash speakers in the Tacoma will be a lot closer to me than in my Sienna, so maybe I’ll just try it the way I had it in my van? What are those in your dash?

    Got it.

My suggestion would be to get a DSP of some kind to power and tune the JLs that you have. (Check out the Kicker Key or JBL MS8)
Those JLs in stock locations should be fine, but you need to be able to tune them.
I Wouldn't do a coax in the door and use bass blockers in the dash.

The original build used an Illusion Audio C3CX.
I sold those to a forum member and he now uses them.
I am using a 3" dedicated mid AR3A from Audible Physics, with some Aluminum Pods off ebay and a Scanspeak R3004.
