i went to best buy to look at tv's yesterday and got sucked into the at&t sales. the guy asked if i was eligable for an upgrade, i told him that i have only had my plan for 5 months. he said that at&t was being very lenient on that and that he would check for me........ at&t is very lenient, i am eligable for an upgrade for the $18 per phone upgrade charge.. iphone 4 here i come. i may have to wait for the sales to die down a bit before i am actualy able to purchase, but i will have it within a week of release, i hope.

so the new rumor is that the iphone will be available with verizon sometime near the 4th quarter (say the holidays). This time it might just not be a rumor. Think about it, why is AT&T being so leniet on the contracts? Could it be that they just want you to sign another 2 year before you have the option of jumping ship?
Also, they increaded the early termination fee for smart phones to $325. Possibly in anticipation of people ditching early? I dont know.

Let me get one thing clear... If I go with my brother to the Apple store on Thursday at 6AM, can I get an iPhone if they are still in stock? He preordered but I didn't, and was wondering if they will sell to walk-ins.

No, since all the pre-orders phones are reserved there aren't any phones available for walk ins from what has been said. You could try friday and see if people who reserved phones didn't show up to pick it up.

    Not enough.

Actually there was a legal claim where att was being sued for high early termination prices. Got a letter in the mail along with my bill.

As of then my early termination fee went from 260 to 110

The iPhone vs android is like VHS vs beta.
Though beta had far more potential and better quality it lost out to the more popular VHS. The android platform will be far more reaching, better technology, more advanced features, and less restrictive development but will lose out to the paranoid restrictive practices that will be two steps behind the android platform but the public will embrace the i platforms because of it's media frenzy, pretty packaging and it's bloated all in one interface and one stop outrageously expensive one stop store.
    Just saying

In my opinion, when the company designing the Operating System has control over the hardware, everything just works.

For years I used windows mobile based phones. Some things worked, others did not. When someone made a program (app) for win mobile 6 or 6.1 it worked on some peoples phones and not others. Some apps would use the GPS on my phone and some apps could not get the GPS to work. Some apps would be very slow, because the person who wrote it tested it on a newer phone with a faster processor and more ram. There were countless examples like this. Although Andriod may be much better than WinMo, I still see having the problems listed above. (Too many hardware combos).

Knowing that Apple has tested the app and its guaranteed to work (with full functionality) on my iPhone is the reason why I just made the switch to the iPhone.

Just because apple approves it doesn't mean it will run well.
Apple mainly approves apps as long as they are in compliance with their APIs, not necessarily if they work well.
Android is a pretty powerful platform. I think apple will benefit as developers write for the android then port over their work to the iPhone, as long as apple is more forgiving with their finger on the button control of the Apis .

I pay $189 for two iPhones my wife and I. It's 1400 minutes, unlimited text, unlimited data, unlimited calls to 10 non AT&T customers and roll over minutes.

iPhone 4 is NOT a 4g phone and Apple has never claimed that it is.

If you are a current iPhone subscriber with the unlimited data plan, you can still keep your unlimited data plan. The only caveat is that you will not be allowed to use the data tethering option on the unlimited plan. If you want to do tethering, you will have to change to a metered plan.
