    A little something every chance we get.
    Then it is working very well I would say! Ours is a 1976 house, so we have a lot to overcome, despite additional insulation with siding and efficient newer AC. If you are maintaining that difference, I would say that for modern build (which were the people I knew), the spray is a good idea. For older, the foil is probably better. And we have too much SHTUFF up there.
