I just got my 2018 Taco SR5 and was wanting to change my low beams to get more visibility while driving at night and wanted to see what peoples thoughts were.

This is what I want to go with:
Kensun 35W HID H11 Conversion Kit

I am leaning towards the 35W vs 55W to avoid getting flashed all the time. And was considering going with the 6000k Bright White just because a friend has those in his Taco.

Has anyone compared the 5000k Pure White vs the 6000k Bright White? I'll eventually switch out the Fog Lights and High Beams but wanted to get this squared away now. Thanks in advance

Awesome. Thanks, man! I will definitely look into those. I only looked at Kensun because a friend uses them and has had no issues. And thanks for the heads up, ill do some searching.

As mentioned stay with 35w and check out the Xenon Depot HID kit. If you want the best output go with 4300k bulbs. XD sells genuine Philips bulbs which is what I would go with, but they also sell their own brand as well. The further you deviate from 4300k the lower the output. The XD ballasts have a low current startup which means that you don’t have to run a stand-alone harness, though it wouldn’t hurt.

Awesome insight, man. Thats some of the info i've been wanting to know. I will for sure look into the 4300k Philips and most likely go with those. Is there any real benefit of using the stand alone harness? Or just the peace of mind knowing they wont have issues?

The harness is to protect the OEM circuit from high current draw spikes when the ballasts starts. XD’s ballast have a low startup draw of 4.5A, meaning about 54w, which is about the same as the OEM 55w halogen bulb. After they start the draw quickly falls off to less than 3A. I’ve tested them on a bench power supply and confirmed the low startup draw. Since the power draw at startup is the same as OEM there is no need for a harness. The benefit would be for peace of mind if for some reason a ballast malfunctioned in a way that caused it to draw more, in that senario you would rely on the OEM fuse to blow rather than the one on the harness.

Also I looked up the HIDs you were considering, they look extremely cheap. I’m a proponent of buying quality once the first time.

Awesome clarification. Thanks again. Yes I agree they look really cheap. I'd prefer going with quality and just doing it right the first time.

From what I've read, many people have switched away from the Kensun kit as it is kinda cheap and not the best output. I just ordered my XenonDepot 4300k Philips kit, pretty stoked. After a lot of looking around it seemed to be the go to as a lot of others have switched to from many other brands. I don't have any personal experience yet but once I get them I'll post up what I think.

Thats what im going to go with as well. They seem to be what most people are using and must be for good reason. Look forward to your review!

Just installed the same kit tonight, but I went with 4500k bulbs. First test drive tonight and I am quite impressed with the output and light. Upgraded from a set of VLED Micros which were quite impressive for LEDs.
