Isn't our glass the new laminated Sound insulating bs?

I do know that our windshields crack/chip if you even look at them wrong.

What you can try is a detailers approach, Clean the glass with isopropyl alcohol or a mild all purpose cleaner like purple power. This will insure all the surface contamination is off. Clay bar the windshield, clean with isopropyl again. Then get you a good sealant or ceramic coating and treat the window

I had this exact problem. I properly cleaned the windshield with a clay bar and then cleaned the wiper's blade edge with isopropyl alcohol. Do NOT use rainx or go through auto car washes. That will make the problem return. Mine has been perfect since then.

I can't stand a dirty windshield, probably clean it 5 or 6 times a week. I wiped it down with isopropyl alcohol last week and installed PIAA Silicon Wipers, liking the results so far.

I’ve never had this issue in 15k miles on the Tacoma, I’ve always simply used windX to clean windshield. Few weeks back my wife used a RainX product to clean the glass, now I have this exact issue the OP is complaining about and really bad fogging on the outside of the window in the morning, that won’t go away due to the same problem. Fuck that rainx cleaner stuff on the Tacoma, it certainly created the problem for me. BTW is did the same to my wife’s Jag windshield, although her wipers seem to do a better job.

I would try cleaning both the inside and outside of the windshield with warm water and blue dawn dish soap. Go over it once, rinse/wipe off and repeat with a second pass. Should be much better and will remove all oils and surface contamination as well as dashboard off gassing.

A product i use to cause the beading effect on a my front windshield is called Trico View/Aquapel. I have used Rain X before and i find it inferior to Trico View/Aquapel.

Rain X i find ends up streaking after a short period of time

It will give you the beading effect on your windshield and it lasts a lot longer in between treatments but that varies on how often you use your wipers.

Anything above 70kmh i don't even use my wipers day or night cause the water just beads off.

PIAA silicon blades are also something you may want to look into.

Probably from the suction cups that installs the windshield. Mine had a few circles when it was new. Went away after awhile.

Sounds to me like the lamination sandwiched in the glass had adhesive problems. Not on the outside or inside of the windshield, but the shatter proof lamination.

Back in the day when the GTO's came here from australia they had this problem, GM came out with a bulletin and found a product that was supposed to remove this type of residue,

    #09-08-48-002A: Marks/Stains on Windshield When Wet (Clean Windshield) - (Mar 19, 2009)
Subject: Marks/Stains on Windshield When Wet (Clean Windshield)

Models: 2010 and Prior Passenger Cars and Trucks (Including Saturn and Saab)
    2010 and Prior HUMMER H2, H3
This bulletin is being revised to update the models and model years. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 09-08-48-002 (Section 08– Body and Accessories).

    Condition
Some owners may comment that marks/stains appear on the windshield when the windshield is wet.

    Cause
This condition may be caused by contact between the windshield and the vacuum hoses or other tools used in the assembly process. This contact may leave a residue that creates a water repellent surface on the glass which, in wet conditions, appear as marks/stains on the surface.

    Correction
Important: DO NOT REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD FOR THIS CONDITION.

To clean the windshield, use Eastwood Glass Polishing Compound*. Follow the manufacturer's directions for product use. Use only hand tools. DO NOT USE POWER TOOLS.

Maybe try that or I found another bulletin that talked about a white type toothpaste being used that will remove residue as well.

Similar to post 36, polishing the glass may be the best fix. My friends second gen actually had this problem. It was bought second hand but was badly neglected. I used a diamond powder glass polish. Mixes with water, I used my DUal action polisher with a 5” felt pad and a spray bottle with water. Spent a good 30minutes polishing the glass. Afterward washed it with just water and cloth, dried it, then wiped it down with denatured alcohol. After all of that then I clay bared it and applied rainx. It has been 2 months and it is beading water superbly now. She said she doesn’t need wipers at speed.

Thank you to everyone for all the suggestions.

I am starting to believe this is the underlying cause of the problem. Potentially a defective windshield from its manufacturing process. I need to read up more of how these are made.

I have cleaned the windshield inside and out over 15 times now with a variety of products trying to find a solution in case it rains before the new glass comes in from Toyota.

Thank you for your contribution OP.

If your new windshield fixes the issue im going to look for the same resolution from my dealer. This truck is a hazard in rain.

    Keep us posted!
