Oh ye of little faith. Here you go as requested. I think these pics address all the areas you suggested would be messed up by the hood being shimmed.

My hood is FAR better now than it was prior to my adjustment. it is secure, level with fenders (within 1/32), no twisting, no vibration at highway (up to 90 tested) speeds, spacing on each gap is the same from side to side and front to back. There is some glare in the pics due to FL sun. Anyone that chooses to adjust their hood is doing so at their own risk.

I am pleased with the results of my work on my truck. In the long run, as long as I am pleased and the wife is not displeased then it goes in the win column.

Like it. What size shims/washer thickness?

It has been a while since I have done the adjustment. The before pics are from Dec 2017. I think I actually did the adjustment on 12/24, as I recall my wife's uncle had stopped by and visited with me while I was working on it.

The washers I used were "spare" parts from a TV wall mount. I think the driver's side was 2 washers per bolt adding up to about 3/8 - 1/4 inch. Passenger side I used thinner ones so maybe 1/8 - 3/16 on that side. I am guesstimating the thickness based on what I see today.

I found the "right" ones by placing them on the hood on the spot approximately above the bolt. The one or combination that sat flush with the fender was used on the corresponding bolt. Once they were all in place I closed and checked the hood height at the cab. I recall changing the passenger side washer as the on of original washers used must have compressed slightly leaving it a bit low still.

After that I adjusted the front "bumpers" by trial and error to flush the font edge, checked to be sure I did not get an indicator light in the cab, then used alcohol to clean the sharpie marks off the underside of the hood and went in the house and relaxed.

I'm considering making a one piece shim using a single piece of aluminum flat bar stock cut in size to match the length of the hinge. I'd cut/drill notches to go around both bolts. Do you this would work as well as individual shims or washers for each bolt? With a dab of touch up paint, it might make for a neater installation.

I think it.would.be a better solution than what I did.
